1. Thanks for the bump* we need quite a few more signatures
The Imperial Sugar Refinery explosion, which was caused by explosive dust particles which ignited could have been prevented. Right now there is no OSHA regulation on the books regarding explosive dust particles, there are only recommendations in which companies can choose to adhere to on a voluntary basis. The Imperial Sugar Company chose not to bother. The death toll is now at 12 dead and 11 still in critical condition due to wounds from the explosion. I urge everyone who reads this to sign the petition at my site http://joesunionreview.com , at the top left hand corner, or at the site where Tammy, from http://USMWF.ORG ,United Support & Memorial For Workplace Fatalities, has hosted it http://weeklytoll.blogspot.com , at the top right hand side. Actually you can just click this link: http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/give-us-combustible-dust-standards---stop-the-insanity

This petition states in abridged text:

We want OSHA to issue comprehensive combustible dust standards and we fully back the Committee on Education and Labor in their request to Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao for answers and action based on the CBS investigations and recommendations.

Another article can be found at AFL-CIO's webblog : http://blog.aflcio.org/2008/02/25/what-if-deadly-dust-explosions-were-airplane-crashes/

and you can read more news about our cherished Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao, from the group American Rights at Work, at http://shameonelaine.org
