MASON, Ohio, March 6 (UPI) -- The uniform supply company Cintas Corp. filed a racketeering lawsuit against two labor unions Wednesday in federal court in New York.
Cintas accuses the UNITE HERE and Teamsters unions of attempting to force the Ohio company to credit them as the singular bargaining advocate for its workers, The Cincinnati Enquirer reported.
Cintas claims the unions conducted a five-year "extortion" operation of "negative, untrue and unlawful attacks" against the country's most significant uniform supplier to gain bargaining advantages for its workers, the Enquirer reported.
The lawsuit, which arises from a 2004 defamation lawsuit filed against the unions by Cintas, reportedly alleges the operation included meddling with Cintas' professional relationships, intentional attacks to decrease Cintas' stock and other illegal actions.
The suit also includes numerous claims of trademark violations, the Enquirer reported.
