Investigators found machine repaired with duct tape

BROWNSVILLE - A construction company was fined after a deadly wall collapse.

Two workers were killed in the accident last year. A wall fell at the T-Mobile call center on Paredes Line Road in Brownsville. A third man trapped underneath the wall survived.

Texas Erectors, the company the three employees worked for, was cited for four different violations. All the violations are listed as serious.

Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) investigators found pipe bracing used to support tilt up walls were installed under hazardous conditions. Its foot plates were not properly attached. Nuts and bolts were not secured and tightened.

The company got a second violation for not having regular inspections of the job sites, materials, equipment, and welding.
