A man lost an appendage Tuesday morning at Metal Culverts Inc. in Albert Lea.

Jeremy Matthew Flink, 28, of Brownsdale lost an appendage in a metal-rolling machine, according to Bob Kindler at the Freeborn County Law Enforcement Center.

He said it happened at 11:35 a.m. Metal Culverts is at 1102 Sykes St.

Which appendage was lost and to what extent, as well as to which hospital he was sent and to what condition the employee was in still are unknown because the Tribune wasn’t allowed a copy of the incident report Friday.

Albert Lea Police Chief Dwaine Winkels said he understands the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating the incident.

However, a media spokesman with the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry who spoke with OSHA staff Friday could not confirm that indeed OSHA had been contacted. He said the staff he spoke with hadn’t heard about the April 1 incident at Metal Culverts but added he will continue to research it.

1. I had my right thumb degloved in a laminiating press.
they sewed it back together, and it works.
But that was the end of my goal of being a classical guitar performance major.

Metal working offers a lot of crush injuries that don't repair well.

Here's hoping Jeremy recovers well.

2. I've had three work comp injuries of mention

The first was my finger in a printing press. I still have ink (like a tattoo) under the skin. I hurt my back bad in Nov. 94. And the scariest was just this past Dec. 17th.

If your hurt on the job, they don't care if you were a concert pianist. They only cover so much by state law. To bad you will never play piano again.

man it is a brutal ass job.

I got $400 for losing that dream.
I worked for a long time to get some music back.
I am struggling back right now from the stroke.

But I have the rest of my life to get back on the horse.
Playing bass now.

I hope you are able to stay on top of the back injury.
They can really affect your quality of life.
