Question: are US corporate tax rates the "second highest in the world"? That doesn't sound right to me, but perhaps I'm wrong.

1. What are "spending restraints"?

McCain said "spending restraint is why we are having to borrow money from China".

ProfessorPlum, please make some sense out of this statement. :-)

As far as I can tell, the befuddled Saint McJohn is saying that a LACK of "spending restraint", i.e. the GOP spending like pigs at the trough over that last 8 years, is why we have to borrow money from China. And also why Republicans and Americans in general might be a little ticked off at the GOP, for running up such irresponsible and dangerous debt.

He seems to be trying to signal he will try to balance the budget a bit, using - - - wait for it - - - tax cuts!!

the GOP solution for every problem.

he is mumble-jumble and spits out the words without realizing what he is saying.

Unfortunately, it´s not just the Republican party which carries the blame for the national debt.

If the federal budget money doesn´t come through taxes, where does it come from?

Well, you know all of this nonsense about taxes is code. "Tax cuts" really means tax cuts for the wealthy. As much of the burden will be shifted to lower income people as is possible.

I mean, not necessary in substance, but his voice...

Close your eyes and you can almost hear Reagan in both what he's saying and how he sounds.
