H/T to Glenn Greenwald. Unfortunately his link is no longer working.

Putting aside the ridiculously inane commentary, what this says about our "esteemed" press corps is sickening.

2. Sorry -- should have pointed out the following:
1. This is Meghan McCain -- his daughter.

2. The footage is from the now infamous BBQ McCain held for the press. The event was fairly well-guarded, except for this.

Greewald has more: http://www.salon.com/opinion/greenwald/2008/03/10/sedona/index.html

3. You're right. It is sickening.
It's also shockingly clear that since the press corps is hobnobbing it up with McCain it is unlikely that they'll do their job this election cycle. Very disappointing that the press stuffs their faces, swing and drink wine with a political candidate who says we can stay in Iraq another 100 years...

As to the first person who replied to this... John McCain is essentially throwing a party for our press that is supposed to remain neutral and impartial. All the while his daughter goes on in a totally asinine manner about this and the "guys from Politico" bringing Cindy McCain flowers. You honestly don't see a problem with this? Really? Truly, you don't? Okay.... Wow. Gosh... Just whoa. Wow. Sheesh. :sarcasm:

8. No need to get angry at someone asking a simple fucking question.
Sheesh, indeed. Way to foster a little give and take and draw people to your perspective on a viewpoint--not.

The video is tossed up there without any backstory, a poster asks for said backstory, and you start RAILING like a self-righteous scold, quite unjustifiably, frankly, when the person you're yelling at didn't suggest they were "onboard" with this crap at all--they simply asked for an explanation of what the video meant:

You honestly don't see a problem with this? Really? Truly, you don't? Okay.... Wow. Gosh... Just whoa. Wow. Sheesh.

15. No backstory..
You hit the nail on the head... The OP and video has no context. I didnt even know McCain had a daughter so it took me a while to figure who was talking, etc...

5. Why the FUCK isn't she in IRAQ???!!!
That little brat needs to strap on an M16 and get her little ass over to Baghdad toot suite.

This complete disconnect is just beyond the pale. Decent American kids are dying over there so her father can grill his famous fucking ribs and chicken.

I can't wait for the day when the sunlight shines on the war profiteers and they all try to hide from it.

There will be no hiding from it.

"My 'cabin' in Sedona."

To hell with these people.

6. News Flash: The press loves McCain, he works 'em and plays 'em
Come on, we all know that the press loves McCain. Just like they loved Rove and his ilk.

The press are really at heart just people, right?

Objectivity is something your grandpa did. :sarcasm:

Thanks for posting this, it should give chills to anyone who thinks the next election is in the bag.

McCain's secret weapons, BBQ and press vacations.

Many of us debunked it long ago...but DU gives it credibility NOW when it carries it's dirty water.
One of these days folks will learn how this thing works.
They like yer guy now...but when it is JUST yer guy and McCain...guess who gets the best press then?
It's a RW rag.

10. Oddly enough, the first thing I thought of was where I grew up.

If you took that left towards Clarkdale and Jerome, you'd hit a small town called Cottonwood. I spent my young life there from age 4 to 18 :).

Anyway, I haven't watched the rest yet.

Edit: And she's driving a Prius (or possibly a hybrid Camry, but it's a hybrid Toyota for sure).

That said, the rest was just a load of fluff.

14. You know, as skeezy as this strategy is (and shame on the press corps
for making it successful), doesn't it seem rather smart? Would it hurt Hillary or Obama to throw a big party for their shallow, Heather-like reporters and kiss their asses a little - instead of putting them in a men's lavatory, for example?

We all know that Bush fed his reporters lobster in 2004, while Kerry's reporters complained about cheap sandwiches. With all of the money thrown around, and all of the influence peddling around elections, why not generate some good feelings with the press?

I can't really generate much dislike for McCain as far as this goes. It seems like excellent strategy that has paid off for him with handsome dividends. For the press, I have much less sympathy.
