2. Get used to it if Obama is the nominee..
Let the wailing and gnashing of teeth begin!

3. Oh, so the answer is the voting for the warmongering hawk, Hillary ...
who regularly prays and associates with members of the Fellowship (Chuck Colsen's organization)(link: http://www.motherjones.com/news/feature/2007/09/hillarys-prayer.html).

Right. Please spare me this nonsense ...

4. Dang it! You have been spared... How ungrateful can you get..
You've gotten a preview of whats in store for us if Obama is the nominee..

I don't want to be in his Kingdom. I like my Condo too much..

I don't want to have to give up my Gay friends and Baby Boomers because they don't fit into his mold.

You see, I can fit into Obama's mold if I want to. The problem I have IS, he can't fit into mine!

5. Ummm ... the Rev. Wright came out strongly for marriage equality.
The members of the Fellowship certainly aren't pro-GLBT-rights.

Marriage rights are handled on a state level; they are within an individual state's regulatory auspices ("police powers"). Obama has stated that he would fully repeal DOMA and get rid of the "Don't ask, don't tell" policy - oh, and those are policies Clinton put into effect with his wife's blessing. And, please spare me the "they had to do it" argument. It's pure bunk. I know it - I graduated from law school. Obama has stated that he will make sure that federal benefits are provided on an equal basis if he becomes president (that's what he will be pushing for). So, he will work hard for the GLBT community.

His church was one of the few who initially ordained women and who instituted a welcoming and affirming policy and designation. Rev. Wright fully supported marriage equality ... http://www.nbjcoalition.org/about/supporters.html. It appears that you would benefit from rechecking the facts.

6. Name one promise Obama has kept since he's been a US Senator..
And why, in four years has he only passed one Bill?

7. I don't know how many promises he's kept, and you don't either.
Edited on Fri Mar-14-08 09:56 PM by Maat
We don't know everyone he's talked to.

You must be referring to how many bills he's sponsored, and that's totally irrevelant to how well he will do as President. Clinton hasn't sponsored that many.

And, it's simply not what we were originally talking about, nor is it the most important thing in determining one's candidate.

Hillary is a warmongering hawk. She voted for the IWR AND the Kyl-Lieberman Amendment, knowing full well they would lead to unnecessary, illegal and immoral invasion and bombing (preemptive war). She sucked up to AIPAC, the NeoCons and the extreme rightwing in Israel by voted against the cluster bomb preclusion amendment. She is far more wobbly in terms of her enthusiasm for full and prompt withdrawal of American troops from Iraq. That is the most important issue to me.

Secondly, she seems to have forgotten her constitutional law, unlike Obama, and believes that preemptive action is fine, and it's not.

Thirdly, she supported her husband is signing the DOMA bill, as well as in instituting the DADT policy.

These issues are the pertinent ones, to me, anyway.

9. You presume to speak for me? Here are just a few of Obama's promises not kept
Here are just a few examples of Obama's Promises Not Kept...

Business Wire August 6, 2007 Monday 6:42 PM GMT

"Obama Vows to Stand Up to Corporate Mega-Farm Lobbyists Who Wield Too Much Influence Over Farm Bill"

"When the farm bill comes up in the Senate, I will be fighting to tell all those agribusiness lobbyists that they won't be able to count on the multi-million-dollar subsidies they always get because we're going to put family farmers first," said Obama."

course....Obama couldn't make it to the senate to vote on it after all

Obama has missed 41% of the Votes this year in Congress..

http://projects.washingtonpost.com/congress/members/o000167/votes/missed

Illinois is DEAD LAST in Veterans Health Care! 12/21/2007

The nerve of this fraud taking money from soldiers when he hasn't done a Damn thing for them!

http://www.atlanticfreepress.com/index2.php?option=com_content&do_pdf=1&id=3077

This is definitely not a candidate I want in the White House in 2009! The reasons are self explanatory!

maybe you should bookmark this for future reference..

10. I don't presume to speak for you.
I'll rephrase.

It's just that these arguments against Obama don't carry any weight - for me - and in my opinion.

11. The examples I listed carry alot of weight for the people they affect..
and are prime examples of "empty" rhetoric, as opposed to promises made into reality.

12. Right.
Veterans' care is a federal issue, and Obama's vote was only one vote. In my research, he voted for the best budget that he could vote for.

Anyway, we just disagree. Nothing you have said has made me think that Hillary is a better candidate.

Have a nice night!
