Come on black folks. Educate me. I thought I understood hiphop to be the clued-in voice of the streets -- keepin it real. How could this guy have any street cred if he doesn't even know that Obama exists? How much validity could his rap have?

Telling the truth here, I don't really get hiphop, but I have taken the time to hear some home grown hiphop / poetry. There is a group that puts on regular imprompto sessions each month in a coffee house I frequent. It is a really positive outlet for the people -- mostly young teens -- who stand up. Every time, I have been a bit shocked about how frankly they talk about their worlds that often include sexual abuse, prostitution, and parents in prison.

I guaran-damn-tee you every last one of them knows all about Barack Obama. I cannot understand how any rapper could not know.

I'm not saying they all identify with him. I'd assume they feel pride on some level, but maybe feel he's too "society" to be real to them. I don't know. But they all know about him. That's for damn sure.

exercise your ability to use your own judgement in evaluating the candidates. Or better yet read a book every now and then....

It's no surprise to me that the majority of educated people are supporting Barack Obama...

13. alot of Americans don't keep up with politics

For instance, I gleaned from a Johnson & Wales undergrad here in Charlotte who's FROM Arizona who had no idea who John McCain was! Granted that was back in September.

People just don't follow certain subjects, even one as crucial as national presidential politics.
