This is just plain crazy.

Now, this being a Clintonism, there's a bit of parsing involved. ABC's Jake Tapper explains:

http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2008/04/in-oregon-clint.html

Clinton on Saturday told Oregonians, "when Sen. Obama came to the Senate he and I have voted exactly the same except for one vote. And that happens to be the facts. We both voted against early deadlines. I actually starting criticizing the war in Iraq before he did."

It's an odd way to measure opposition to the war -- comparing who gave the first criticism of the war in Iraq starting in January 2005, ignoring Obama's opposition to the war throughout 2003 and 2004. (And Clinton's vote for it.)

But even if one were to employ this "Start Counting in January 2005" measurement, Clinton did not criticize the war in Iraq first.
Tapper goes on to show that Obama criticized the Iraq war on January 18, 2005 during Condoleeza Rice's confirmation hearings. Clinton says she started criticizing the war on January 26, 2005 -- 8 days after Obama.

Of course, Clinton's "January '05" metric is absolutely inane -- Obama opposed the war from the beginning, and she supported it. But it is rather hilarious that even by her own ridiculous standards, her story is false.

5. Will she be the first to criticize a war in Iran,
after her Kyl-Lieberman vote, too?

11. Obama's Iraq Plan:

"He will keep some troops in Iraq to protect our embassy and diplomats; if al Qaeda attempts to build a base within Iraq, he will keep troops in Iraq or elsewhere in the region to carry out targeted strikes on al Qaeda."

In fact Obama's not leaving Iraq either!

13. Well, if Biden's Iraq exit strategy
had been implemented, after having been approved TWICE, the only troops in Iraq would be helping guard the borders, and even that was transitional. He said if that didn't work, then he'd yank THEM the hell out, too.

And if last week's SFRC hearings on Iraq were any indication, it's the general consensus that Al Qaeda isn't IN Iraq in any significant numbers anymore.

This is the most Ludicrous claim yet. If we let her get away with this, then we deserve the outcome.

9. She just cannot stand to live with what she did, what she is.
She has done amazing things in her life. Why the confabulation? Why the vain, glaringly obvious deception?

I just don't get it.

10. I have a question:

What did Obama do to try to stop the war in 2002?
What did Obama do to try to stop the war in 2003?
What did Obama do to try to stop the war in 2004?
What did Obama do to try to stop the war in 2005? (He voted for more war funds)
What did Obama do to try to stop the war in 2006? (He voted for more war funds)
What did Obama do to try to stop the war in 2007? (He voted for more war funds)

Is it enough to say "I was against the war" and give a few speeches about it?

Why didn't Senator Obama use the filibuster?

He claims he wanted to stop the war, but not enough to stand up?

15. Biden did a lot --
but apparently it wasn't good enough to get people to support him. All he got was criticism from the experts here on DU. And look where we are today.

21. uhhhhh....
of course war funds were voted for on Iraq, we can't leave our troops underfunded and at risk in the middle of us trying to fight Bush to end this War, our politics should never jeopardize the safety of our troops, it should only to get them out of this War and not having us resort to crossing our fingers and hoping underfunding will give the President no choice but to end the war in Iraq (he's shown stubbornness, so we should already no the answer to that). You know damn well that Bush would have just found a way to beat us Democrats over the head with guilt.....I want out of Iraq very much but we have to get real here, voting for funding for the troops isn't as simple as you think and is more complex that it is being painted out to be. If I were in his shoes, I would have voted just the same unless I knew for sure that risking the funding and protection of our troops would be a popular enough motion to ACTUALLY pass and end the War indefinitely, but intelligent ones know that this was far from the truth and more of a 'statement' vote when it came to voting no on funding for the troops...

14. Technically, she's right. She did. She gave a heated speech against the war, and then went right in
and voted for it.

Like George, The Lesser, she doesn't catch on that blathering doesn't help. She was given authority and she used it.

Mission Accomplished.

20. Ok, Hillary Clinton is Playing the Alzheimers game now.
There is no doubt in my mind that she is either:

(a) completely delusional
(b) overdosed on free samples of Xanax
(c) truly a pathological liar.

Take your pick, as these symptoms seem to come and go at will.

22. She is just a damn liar, isn't she?
Sniper fire. Phony health care story. Devious misrepresentation.

I am extremely tired of liars in and around the White House. I had almost decided that if she somehow got the nomination, I might actually vote for her since she is better than McCain. But, I am not voting for a person who lies or uses devious misrepresentation. I will only vote for someone with some integrity.

AND, her declaration that all Obama has going for him is a speech he gave in 2002 is extremely insulting. When I hear her say that, it makes me furious. It makes me want to use extremely unkind words to describe her. I will refrain in order to avoid being "hateful".

23. I am not giving her an inch on her IWR vote However,
She is the only candidate that has taken a true leadership position on Iraq. She Said "I will remove the troops from Iraq, regardless of what the advice of the Generals on the ground is". It is bold and direct and sets her apart from Obama.

I do not support her for many reasons but her position on Iraq is truly where I wish my candidate was.
