Update: Barack Obama to start Indiana tour in South Bend at Washington High
Appearance scheduled for late Wednesday night

SOUTH BEND — Presidential hopeful Sen. Barack Obama will make a late-night appearance Wednesday at the same South Bend high school where his Democratic primary opponent, Sen. Hillary Clinton, was denied an appearance nearly two weeks ago.

The Illinois Democrat is expected to take to the stage around 10 p.m. Wednesday, his campaign confirmed tonight. It will be the first stop on a three-day tour of Indiana ahead of the state's May 6 primary election. Doors open at 8 p.m.

School officials say the appearance isn’t during school hours, as Clinton’s would have been, and therefore is not a disruption to classes. Washington High School students, faculty and staff members are on spring break this week.

Those of us who watch Obama's speeches here on DU know that he has been giving pretty much the same stump speech every day for the past 12 or 13 months. It is the outcome of months of preparation and refinement - bringing in phrases from David Axelrod and Deval Patrick. But it's a powerful message and it seems to be working for him, so why change a winning message?

Still I find it hard to see how Obama can at the same time promise he will fight for change and also bring the country together by working with Republicans. I would love to hear him say more about how we can defeat the enemies of change.
