Barack Obama on Charlie Rose explains,"If we don't have plausible answers on the economic front, and if we appear to be condescending toward those traditions that are giving their lives some stability, then they're going to opt for at least that party that seems to be speaking to the things that...provide them with something solid to stand on," This is similar to his recent comments that he made at San Francisco Fundraiser about working class voters in Pennsylvania who are bitter because no party has helped them with economic issues.

5. That explains it perfectly. This guy really takes risks.
He is speaking the truth that has almost become taboo.

How ironic is it that Clinton is trying to call this attitude "elitist". It is exactly the opposite.

And moreover, he is absolutely right that the way to kill the Republicans and the Clintons with their wedge issues is for the Democratic Party to be speaking to and working for the true interests of the public.

But politicians don't want to do that. It is hard work, and doesn't pay very well. It is much easier to just toss out the wedge issues to keep the "dumb" voters pacified, and it is much more lucrative to make your money by serving the giant multinational corporations.

12. I love Hillary's remark that Obama's remarks sound "elitist."
I don't recall reading where Obama and spouse made $109 million in the last seven years.

Pot, meet kettle.

It still blows my mind how the media are making such a fuss over Obama's comment. In my opinion, he's right on the money. Around where I live, you have people bitching about their lost jobs and their standard of living being maintained on credit. Things like the Great Depression, Watergate, Iran Contra, Iraq war, S&L debacle and the current economic crises have all happened under Republican watch. I've been alive for 50 years. We've had Republican presidents for 30 of those 50 years. Yet these same people will vote Republican in the presidential elections because of emotion issues like guns, gays and abortion. Then, they'll spend the next four years bitching about how the economy's becoming worse.

Absolutely unbelievable.

If people were half as loyal to their faith as they are to their politics, this whole country would be up for sainthood.

13. I wouldn't begrudge them earing $109,000,000, if
it were not essentially in "legal bribes" and influence peddling.

I have no problem with entrepreneurs being well rewarded for having great ideas and building a business around that. That really is the American way.

But this revolving door thing that is little more than legalized bribery is truly disgusting.

6. This is why I have come to so strongly support Obama
Time and again, I find how consistent he has been over the years. He has a core political philosophy and values and does not stray from these convictions, whether politically expedient or not. He has thought about these issues and has committed himself to them in an incredibly consistent manner--even if classical, cynical Washington doesn't get it, because it's the old game.

You will never see Obama claim to have been taught to shoot by his grandpa (I hope), but you will hear him say he's talked to downstate Illinois hunters, and he understands what this means to them. And how we need to engage these people on an economic front, or they will keep voting with the Republican "values" agenda because they've lost hope that Washington can do anything for them.

This is such an extraordinarily sophisticated and honest approach I'm not sure the country is ready for it. Everybody is stuck on stupid still when it comes to politics. If we don't take advantage of this opportunity to tear down stupid, we will deserve what we get.

7. But..but..but.. the GOP Operative said he was "breathtakingly elitist"...
...and this clip shows just the opposite.

I'm sure this will run in heavy rotation on the morning talk shows.

:sarcasm:

Although I noticed that he chose his words more carefully back in '04. I recommend the video.

10. When you're running all over
the place taking flights from the east coast to the west coast,it's hard to stay on your game 100%. Having said that the Clintons know what he meant and so does her supporters.
