I'm amazed at how the tiniest of statements can be trumped up to make someone look like the anti-Christ. It's a wonder any politician even dares speak anymore.

Like Karl Marx said, "Religion is the opiate of the people". When the chips are down, the religious can always find solace in God. When the government seems to be taking an authoritarian turn, people do wonder if the fears of our founding fathers are coming true and take solace that at least they possess a means of defense against tyranny, not to mention putting food on the table.
