1. I love Media Matters...
Media Matters, BraveNewFilms, CrooksAndLiars and NewsHounds are all awesome tools we never used to have.

One of the few positives I can take away from last night is how overwhelmingly negative the responses have been.

3. Get ready to lose an election, boys and girls.
Edited on Thu Apr-17-08 10:47 PM by ryanmuegge
"Obama's a terrorist." I can hear it already. The 527 groups are going to run this shit all day, every day from September onwards. A new 527 group will probably pop up devoted to this whole thing, actually...kind of like how those swiftboat motherfuckers just came out of nowhere and became a group devoted to the whole issue.

Yeah, there's no truth in it. It's total bullshit, but that doesn't matter. If the soundbite that Obama's a terrorist is repeated over and over again in the media, and whores in the corporate (allegedly "serious") media give it undeserved legitimacy by talking about it repeatedly, this is going to be damning.

It's bad enough already that Obama's an extreme black separatist who hates Jews and the American flag already. .

This coverage of this election completely makes me want to puke.

In 2006, the media couldn't be too effective in influencing the mid-term elections because there were too many candidates to cover at once; but with the presidential elections, they can focus in on personalities and ruin the Democratic candidates, thereby doing the work of the Republicans.

4. Nope, they're not going to be able to do it this time.
They counted on the stupidity of the American public. Obama is counting on the intelligence of the American public. Makes a huge difference.

8. Granted, there are 300 million people in this country, but...
When motherfuckers in Pennsylvania (voters, not morons in the media - it's to be expected from the media fools) are asking Obama why he doesn't wear a flag pin, I begin to worry that this stuff will be effective in the general election. When voters in Ohio (on 60 Minutes) are deeply concerned that he doesn't put his hand over his heart during the pledge, that concerns me. I just think, "well, imagine how they'll react when they hear that he's a terrorist."

11. But imagine how they'll react when he rides into their town on the train and
talks to them with passion and respect and humor and solutions... truly, I am not worried.

15. Also.. something I felt about the debate last night, with that flag pin questioner
The idiots like Hannity & friends spin that issue and fill the minds of simple people with doubt and fear.

Then the question is asked in the public debate, and that woman gets an answer directly from Obama, who says: I love this country.

Now, there are some predisposed to hate and lies, who only can see hate and lies wherever they look.

But I think most people can recognize what is authentic, and when they are genuinely respected, they can feel it. It's just been such a long time coming.

Look back at the swiftboat shit from 2004 (yeah, that election was stolen, but the fallout from that made the polling data much closer).

The media will (and already has) give legitimacy to the weather underground, wright, and flagpin stuff. It may have a serious effect on public opinion.

What I say is based on history. I'd like to know what you base your assertion that I'm wrong on (other than your own word or your hopes, which doesn't mean shit). Remember Willie Horton? Remember windsurfing vs. baseball? These things, no matter how insignificant, can have an effect on elections if they are given enough play in the media, even during cycles when Republicans should lose handily. I don't think this is anything particularly absurd to say.

I hope I'm wrong, but real-world history demonstrates otherwise.

By the way, I'm no Hillary supporter.

17. Pure bullshit.
Nowadays... anyone who puts the Dem party's well being above Mr. Obama's deification is under attack.

Stand tall George! I am writing a letter in your defense today.

I'm sure they too consider the Dem Party's well-being the top priority.

21. Well, George is going to have McCain on Sunday. . .
Do ya think he'll be asking McCain about adultery? Or about reports that he collaborated with the North Vietnamese? Or sermons in his church? What about his patriotism, since he made propaganda tapes for the North Vietnamese?

Don't hold your breath. . .

They don't call George "Judas" Stephanopoulos for nothing.

As I listened to the audio in this thread of Judas, Scammity and Schmalztberg, the only thing that resonated in my head was "what a bunch of douchebags".

RAW
