But surely, Carter has been overly demonized for his whole life, since the presidency.
He runs around building houses for poor people, writing books full of goodness and honey. He monitors elections in countries all over the world, to try and help assure the election process is done properly. He's just a good man.
Perhaps that is why he is so hated by the right. He represents actual good. Yes, he's being demonized precisely because he is TRYING to do the right thing, to resolve the war with words, to assuage the wounds of past wrongs, and right the situation. He is hated because he doesn't see painting 'eat this' on a 1000 pound bomb and dropping it on a village somewhere, killing women, men, and children willy-nilly as the first go-to fixer-upper to a deteriorating situation.
But this is an Orwell world. Good is bad. War is peace. Torture is not torture, or at least we'll argue with you about known facts. Corporations good, people bad, just wage slaves. That's our corporate world, the people you've learned from your whole life. It looks like you've at least had someone teaching you differently, and that makes me glad.
