Footage here from the classic "War Room" film --

Lest we forget. Compared to what Bill Clinton faced - allegations, with incriminating tapes, of extramarital affairs and leaked DOD documents re: draft dodging - Wright is nothing.

1. Back then not as many people had access to the 24h "news" station crap.
Plus this scandal is pushing lots of white people's racist buttons.

21. Obama will win NC and beat expectations in so doing
We have, at least here in Durham, 100% verifiable optical scan voting systems, and a lot of Democrats on the ground working for Obama. Probably 75% of the activists here are Obama supporters. Our congressman, David Price, finally came out and endorsed Obama about two weeks ago. Mel Watts, another congressman, also did so. Both are superdelegates, and highly respected here. Dozens and dozens of people are out every day working to get out the vote. The Obama campaign is very well organized here, and the grassroots supports Obama. Meanwhile, the Clinton campaign is so starved for volunteers that they are bringing people in from out of state. The Obama campaign is 99% volunteer locals, people who know the community, the culture, and who are representing Obama well. The people who are the voters' point of contact with the Clinton campaign are paid, and don't understand the local people or their culture. To the extent that they actually care, they are angry and share the same sense of frustrated entitlement that has marked their candidate from the moment she began to lose.

While a handful of activists I know are supporting Clinton, there's been a groundswell of support of Obama. Remember, these are Democratic primary voters. Black folks won't be alienated by Wright's message. Southern white liberals (yes, they exist, in numbers, and I am one of them) also get it. That's most of the primary vote here. The remainder of eligible voters, the unaffiliated, vote at lower rates. Many of those I talk to when canvassing are younger voters (young people are more likely to be independent) who have been given a new sense of political efficacy by the Obama campaign. Black voters, liberals and young people are a winning coalition in the Democratic primary here.

The Clinton campaign's recent efforts at voter suppression will also not help sway Democratic primary voters, as there's a history of this kind of thing. Democratic voters associate these tactics with the Republicans and will be turned off by this.

There are a lot of people, including many you might not expect, who are Obama supporters here. We are working our butts off to secure the NC delegation to the Democratic National Convention for Obama. I don't know Indiana, but I do know North Carolina, and this is Obama country. If you've seen polls showing Clinton closing the gap, we've seen them, too, and it just gets us fired up. We'll beat them on the ground.

27. The national media don't have a clue
They are not used to covering NC politics, or our primary. They don't know where NC Democrats are, or even quite realize that we outnumber Republicans by 700,000 souls. They think we're Alabama or "similar to South Carolina."

And they don't know that our state party is quite competent, which is why our Democrats keep winning statewide office in an era when most states are 100% GOP. And they don't understand that the Democrats here really do support Obama (except Gov. Easley, and, well, screw him).

Plus, Indiana gets all the attention because it's close. Which is fine, but it's also smaller. Even if Clinton wind big there, Obama will still gain delegates, thanks to NC.

"the only reason i havent ignored you is that i feel if no one ever listens to your deranged bullshit here, you might go do something stupid in the real world and hurt yourself and others."

i will break it down

"The only reason". This phrase implies that my reason stands in solidarity. All other reasons have abandoned it, and now it stands alone.

"i havent ignored you". This phrase builds upon the previous phrase to inform you that i am about to tell you what the only reason you are not on my ignore list is

"is that i feel". This particular segment means i am about to tell you the way i feel. Dumbass.

"if no one ever listens to your deranged bullshit here". This means that everything you say is not just bullshit, it is deranged, and i want you to know that i am listening because....

"you might go do something stupid in the real world and hurt yourself and others". This clearly is meant to communicate that not only are you a dumbass who spouts deranged bullshit, you are a danger to yourself and others, and shouldn't be left without a virtual world in which to spew your bile, because then the danger might significantly increase.

I'm glad we had this talk. :)

I hope you understand now.

4. Rev. Wright is Obama's Gennifer Flowers?
"Wright is nothing."

Did Gennifer baptize Chelsea?

Did Gennifer marry Bill to Hillary?

Is one's choice of a church no more than fornication?

What interesting ethical equivalents you have. Obama should definitely be your candidate.

For those of us who rate our faith higher than our sins, however...

For those of us who are not completely cynical about our faith and its teachings, however...

5. I still believe in separation of church and state.
We need to be assessing Obama on politics and leave his religion and his relationship with his pastor as something that is not important. This is an issue of racism when Obama and mccain are not held to the same standards. mccain is getting political support from hagee and parsley who say things as nutty and nuttier than Wright. The press refuses to acknowledge the truth.

7. Ya. Surely it's far more egregious that Obama's preacher has offensive political viewpoints than
that "The Big Doggie" was humping around on his wife for a dozen years with the same woman, and then sought to cover it up.

Break a commandment by copulating with someone other than you spouse - an Immoral act.....

OR

Be linked to guilt by association to a Pastor that's down for a good rant?

Jeeze, let me think about it. Which was a scandal and which wasn't?

And then later he did it some more......and lied some more!

Now add color to the palette, and that is the only reason that Wright is being called a "scandal".

Rev. Wright is not really a scandal, they just hope that folks won't notice that.

Here's the real scandal.

Oh wouldn't Bush love to be on the receiving end of your faith higher than our sins speech.

Like with your candidate herself, you just don't fucking get the can of worms you've opened up with this shit. Just like when she hopped on board with the fucking WFRA.

For almost eight years I've heard democrats bitching about Bush and his fundie followers. Now Clinton and her supporters are actually ENCOURAGING this crazy fucking shit. We should care MORE about IMAGINARY ALLIES IN THE SKY than the CONSTITUTION or just plain old common sense and morals.

You all deserve each other. Maybe the Hillbots could get a nice little plot next to the Bush empire in Paraguay and become Stepford wives while waiting for the rapture.

In the meantime, back here in the United States of America:

KEEP YOUR FUCKING SKY PUPPETS AND YOUR INVISIBLE CLOUD PEOPLE OUT OF MY POLITICS.

6. Don't forget -- the reason reality is stranger than fiction is that fiction has to make sense ...
The Wright thing is important because people keep talking about it, and the talking heads keep talking about it because, well, they keep talking about it MAKING it important.

People talked ALL THRU 1994 about some speech that Khallid Abdul Maurice Templesman Muhammad (someone no one had heard of before this speech) gave an inflammatory speech at to a small audience at some obscure college in NJ. The moral of the story is -- misdirection REALLY WORKS! And people buy it -- "because it's on TV" (to quote George on Seinfeld).

11. Interesting there at the end watching that crotchsniffing asshat Stephanopoulos
confessing his love affair of the Clintons.

Co-anchor... Gov. Clinton has a character problem, but I take it that your line of.. Stephanopoulos: "Gov. Clinton has NO character problem, he's passed his character test." Well, he has not denied that he has engaged in marital infidelity... Stephanopoulos: "He said he had problems in his marriage." Thats right." And he's talked about the draft and to some people thats a character problem. Stephanopoulos: "Bill Clinton has passed his character test throughout his life, and throughout this campaign. And he's shown it with his commitments to real fights. And what he's going to do in this campaign is focus on whats important to the American people. On the jobs and on education. Thats what the American people care about, they want to move into the future, they DONT want to be diverted by side issues. They're not going to let the Republican attack machine hurt them."

POT....KETTLE...BLACK

Guess this explains a bit about that sorry excuse for a "debate". What an asshole!

People can look past an affair. But race is whole different matter. The fact that we're still discussing this is disturbing. This is a non-issue that the media and Hillary won't let go of.
