"Jon Stewart took off the gloves and pummeled the media last night for it's non-stop, wall-to-wall coverage of The Most Important Issue Facing America, things a Presidential candidate's former pastor said. 'Who will end this vicious cycle of questions with no answers?!'" - This is from Wednesday's show, but has not been available on YouTube until now.

2. I'm so glad I stopped watching television in 2000
Yeah, I see bits and pieces people post here and stuff, but I don't watch TV. I don't even own one and I don't miss it at all. To me it looks like a total mind trap. All these people telling us what we think, what we like and dislike. Everybody has a stinking opinion and some get heard while others don't. Meanwhile some truly important things get almost no mention at all.

It is so obvious, so blatant, so destructive. I won't subject myself to it any more. Screw them and their advertising revenue.

7. It truly is and people don't see the destructive impact it has on them.

They don't see how it limits their range of thought and perception, even emotion. If people really knew what was going on in Iraq, for example, we'd be out of there already. People think they are "informed". They trust that what they're hearing is "true" or at least "true enough". IT does their thinking for them, it entertains them and keeps them from having to deal with reality beyond whatever they do to keep themselves clothed, washed, fed and buying crap they mostly don't need. It stages our social and political "debates". Ugg.

At least with the internet the playing field is evened out a bit and on forums like this we get to see a variety of opinion, much of it quite well informed.

6. This is a perfect illustration
This is a perfect illustration of just how one sided our media has become. Regular TV viewers simply don't recognize that their thinking is being directed. This constant focus on Wright is beyond ridiculous. Our future is being destroyed by the corporate media. Jon Stewart is funny and the piece is very well done but I am losing my sense of humor about the issue.
