This is a one-minute ad showing the effects of Hillary Clinton's (and John McCain's) careless, pandering gas tax plan.

2. Doesn't have the 'approved by' message
so most likely not. Plus it might be viewed as negative campaigning (i.e. Hillary will cry about being outspent and picked on unfairly).

7. Well Done. Especially about the "Laying off construction workers." part. Need that emphasized more.

9. Not only that, but leaving highways unmended during warm times makes it all worse later
Edited on Tue May-06-08 02:06 PM by zulchzulu
If you live in the Northeast, the Midwest or other parts of the country, when it's warm is the only time to fix potholes that happen usually from the hard winters. Take that away and not only are you paying more for gas (even though you supposedly get a "break"), but the highway infrastructure is left to rot for a year. Bridge collapse, anyone? Let alone tire flats and other hazards making everyone LESS SAFE.

There certainly are plenty of underemployed construction workers that LIVE for the warm times to work on the roads and bridges. I guess Hillary or Johnny McSame doesn't care about them...

11. well actually
there is a gap time between when those projects are built/maintained and when the funding comes in from the feds. So we won't notice an affect on our industry (transportation) until early next year. But by then we will be scavenging for ways to pay for it. We won't allow the public to use unsafe facilities, if they can't be repaired or maintained, they will be closed.

FYI, in Texas alone this year, funding was cut by over 50% for all transportation jobs. The gas tax remains the primary means for funding those jobs (90%) and that number (18.5% in Texas) hasn't risen since 1993. The only way we've been able to keep up with inflation was due to everyone driving SUV's in the late 90's and fuel consumption rising. Now that fuel is so expensive and consumption is down, our funding is suffering.

8. Why doesn't anyone challenge her about who controls the price of gas?
The price is not controlled by the government and if you listen to enough analysts its the speculation, no its supply and demand, no its refinery capacity, no its the falling us dollar, no its the weather. Every day brings another reason why the gas prices are going up. They will feed us any of the above reasons or make up a new one to totally wipe out the price decrease from a tax holiday. The rich oil companies will get richer, HRC will have her "read my lips" moment and we all be taken again as suckers.
