I'm just video documenting the destruction of the tornado cell that hit the Midwest Saturday

http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/us/AP-Severe-Weather.html?hp

They saw softball size hail and roaring winds 23 dead so far

''The federal government will be moving hard to help,'' President Bush said. ''I'll be in touch with the governors and offer all of the federal assistance we can.''

I guess we will have to see on that one

has anybody heard if these were F5's

some of the destruction looks like a F5 hit some place

I'm interested in documenting wind speeds

I believe the Roar of the winds are increasing all over the world

1. No f5's.
I live in the area. The destruction was bad, because it took a direct hit. Most likely was an F3, from what everyone says.
Several of the dead were in cars on the highway, and the storm went directly down the path of that highway, tossing cars around.

5. OH, yes.
We are fine. Tornadoes are devastating, but people right next door are often OK.
As far as I know it didn't affect directly anyone I know.

3. I suspect you're right about the increase.
The table and graph at this link

http://www.spc.noaa.gov/climo/torn/monthlytornstats.html

certainly show that the winds came earlier than usual this year, and in great numbers, in the US.

4. Tornadoes are pretty much a US phenomenon. It's the flat land mass from the gulf to the north pole
through the center of the US.
