1. I understand and agree with most of what Cenk says...
but abortion is not just politics. That is too simplistic an explanation.

4. How is it not "politics" . . .
What's clear is that --- like with homosexuality --- the Bible is used to argue for positions which
are inaccurate --- and probably just the reverse.

First, the Bible is simply patriarchal writings --- that's all.
In fact, it was used to cement the patriarchy --

Secondly, it is an issue which has first been distorted and then used now for decades to further
the interests of authoritarian control over women's bodies --- i.e., "politics."

5. I agree
Abortion - life vs. death - the question of "when does life begin?" -these are deep seated issues for a lot of people. Plus, I feel people are wondering about, if it's okay to kill "an embryo" or something, what is the limit of what is acceptable?

prolife argument. if you actually read the friggin thing, they have a clear -- BLATANTLY clear -- hierarchy on which they put life, and the unborn are not considered equal to born in any regard.

Exodus 21:22-26

If men strive, and hurt a woman with child, so that her fruit depart from her, and yet no mischief follow: he shall be surely punished, according as the woman's husband will lay upon him; and he shall pay as the judges determine. And if any mischief follow, then thou shalt give life for life, Eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, Burning for burning, wound for wound, stripe for stripe.

eye for an eye if he harms the woman. the unborn baby, on the other hand, no equal punishment.

Numbers 5:27-28

And when he hath made her to drink the water, then it shall come to pass, that, if she be defiled, and have done trespass against her husband, that the water that causeth the curse shall enter into her, and become bitter, and her belly shall swell, and her thigh shall rot: and the woman shall be a curse among her people. And if the woman be not defiled, but be clean; then she shall be free, and shall conceive seed.

ritual abortion?

its amazing how little of the bible most outspoken christians have actually read. the bible is in no way an anti abortionist book. back in their times they probably had miscarriages and stillborns like crazy -- can you imagine how much less the individual unborn would be valued under those circumstances? the whole prolife cuz im christian thing is just silly.
