1. Thanks Joanne98 !
That's my favorite song by John Lennon! It reminds me when my mother died in 1980 and I decided that I too needed to spend more time "watching the wheels" and enjoy my life more fully. I always knew she would have approved. Peace to you and yours!

2. I always thought that was so funny.
John wrote a song about how he no longer wrote songs. I just get a kick out of that.

4. I guess you could look at it that way, huh...
he wrote lots of songs I guess (I'm no expert), after he left the Beatles, just didn't pursue fame.

I always loved this song. For me, it's his best song.

5. He gave up songwriting for a while.
I think it was in 1972, he said he didn't want to do it anymore and perhaps he would never do it again. People told him he was crazy for not pursuing further fame and fortune. But he already lived in the penthouse of a luxury hotel, so what more could he possibly want? He had Yoko and Sean, which is all he really cared about. But once he got back into songwriting that was one of the things he wrote about. I was never really much of a fan of that song, but I have always thought it was funny. My favorite Lennon song is Across the Universe, which is the third song on Let It Be. I think Let It Be is simply the greatest album of all time. As for Lennon's solo work, I really like Instant Karma! and Cold Turkey the best. Cold Turkey is interesting because it is about heroin withdrawal. John and Yoko were very upset that they were apparently sterile; their doctor told them that they had done too much drugs and permanently damaged their reproductive capacity. They went on a cruise, locked them themselves in their room, and when the hell was over they were clean. Of course then they had Sean. He wrote a song about their suffering, but for whatever reason they others didn't like it, so he had to do it solo. Clapton did the guitar, though. If you're not familiar with it, I would suggest checking it out. You really feel the suffering in the song, and at the end John rather faithfully replicates the sounds coming from the room during the ordeal. It's really quite disturbing.

As far as the message is concerned, I of course love Imagine, Power to the People, Give Peace a Chance, and Happy Xmas (War is Over.) He was truly one of the greats.

7. yeah..
he was really good, a shame...

I really like A.T.Universe (Cyndi Lauper redid it and how I learned of it), and Happy Christmas (War is Over). Thanks for the info!

6. Being John.
For all of his suffering, I think he was fortunate to be
able to experience so much.

To have real choice.

To show US so much.

We are lucky to have had such an adventurous
searcher as John Lennon to observe.

I love him.
