2. I'd agree that it was simply a poor choice of words if it were the

only time she had referenced the assassination. As it was noted, all she would have had to do was to say, "Bobby Kennedy didn't wrap up the nomination until June" and there would have been NO problem. But since she'd used that same phrase before, referencing the assassination (and if you listen carefully to the comments she made, the word "assassinated" was clearly emphasized as she was speaking) I do have a hard time chalking this one up to a careless moment, or weariness, or whatever.
Just as with the sniper story, it was not a 'one time only' comment; it does make it difficult to write it off so casually.
Please understand, I'm not trying to pick a fight with you; just offering a different perspective.

26. Once again, Hillary's campaign chooses to blame Obama.

Is there a case where she screws up and *doesn't* blame Obama, where she simply explains that she's sorry that she made a boneheaded choice of words - and used the opportunity to clarify her meaning, to clarify the reasoning behind her decision to continue the campaign even though many say her position is hopeless. Is there a case where she takes the positive route, then with the correction done turns her attention to tearing down the McCain myth? I don't think so. If she did, she'd rise in my estimation.

But no, she and her campaign, with Mary Walsh in this instance giving voice to it, have decided to use this occasion as just another platform for smearing Obama. That's what I think sux big time. That's what I disrespect Mary Walsh for - because it doesn't make for good Democratic politics, whether Walsh or Clinton engage in it.

4. She sure as hell didn't speak for this woman or for

most of the other women I know. She's totally wrong and once again makes the same tired old excuses for the Queen. One more time. This was no "accidental" choice of words, no "poor judgment" involved at all. She knew exactly what she was saying. The Clintons rarely say anything by "accident", they're too smart. She just misjudged the reaction this time. If this were a one-time thing then it might be different. But this is the FOURTH time she's made such a statement in the past few months. Once is a possible mis-statement, or accidental poor judgment. More than once is, quite simply, a tactic.

And as Joe Madison said, there has not been a presidential candidate in this cycle who has required such early Secret Service protection and who has been subjected to such "jokes" about "something happening" to him. The Huckabee NRA "joke", the magazine cover with him in the crosshairs of a gun, etc. She and Bill are going to destroy this party and throw it under the bus if they don't stop their shit. And what's sad is that they don't care. They don't care what happens to the party if they don't get their way.

That said...and in all sincerity...I think Clinton says a lot of things (sometimes multiple times) that are abysmally stupid from a political point of view.

I don't take Mary Walsh's word for it because she has her own way of coloring the world which might be just as misrepresentative as Burton's. Walsh's word certainly is point for point the same as James Carville's, for instance, and as Carville explains, he's neither a reporter nor an unaligned journalist, he's a political operator.
