At the DNC Rules Panel, Donna Brazile, Superdelegate and Rules Committee Member, owns Clinton Supporter, Governor Blanchard, by stating:

"My mama taught me to play by the rules and respect the rules..."

"When you decide to change the rules, especially, in the middle of the game, it's called cheating."

37. Martin Luther King bravely accepted the penalty
for "breaking the rules" of discrimination by willingly go to jail for his beliefs. Hillary, on the other hand, believes she should be rewarded for violating rules she signed off on in the beginning.

48. Michigan was a different case to me
It was truly an act of civil disobedience. But in accepting that an act may go against the rules, one must also accept the consequences. Levin has worked tirelessly to make this change in the party both using the rules and outside of them. I think Michigan was right to do what it did. Florida was an entirely diffenent case. These were not victims nor were they civil disobeyers. They simply went to the floor of their opponents and showed them their bellies, much as in the animal world, and surrendered. Absolutely different cases.

6. A little extreme, doncha think?
While I disagree with her and the others on that particular decision, it's pretty extreme to call her an anti-gay homophobe over it.

One decision does not a homophobe make.

Regardless, she's right on this situation. Changing the rules in the middle of the game is cheating.

It will cost the DP plenty, It already cost them 6 months of contributions from someone I know. And yeah it was a vicious, homophobic thing to do.and anything she is for, I suspect. Question is, is it possible to be anti gay and not homophobic?

33. If homophobic means "afraid of gays" as I've always taken it to mean then yeah, you can be
you can be anti-gay without being homophobic.

What is there to be afraid of, anyway? I haven't heard of mobs of gays prowling the streets beating up straights, or making nasty comments when a guy and a girl walk down the street holding each others hand.

I cannot think of a situation in my entire life, 63 years so far, in which I had cause to feel afraid of any gay man, or woman, so I'm not so sure that the anti-gay folks are mostly driven by fear. More often, I think its cultural and, especially religious culture, that drives efforts to discriminate against this segment of the population.

As a libertarian-leaning leftist, I have no interest or concern with who anyone takes to bed, regardless of gender. As a sort of teacher/writer I do wish people would be a little less extra-inclusive in how they label people, if they have to label them at all.

18. WTF does that have to do with this thread?
Or do you pretty much just go kneejerk Ad Hominem all over anyone that says anything you don't like?

Please note that your assertion that "her words mean nothing" is a logical fallacy. How many others have you used today in a vain attempt to make a point? : http://www.nizkor.org/features/fallacies/

Like her or not, she speaks the truth in this case - or do you think it is just fine to attempt to change rules in the middle of a contest?

27. Wow.
I had not seen that. What a bizarre decision. Civil Rights are Civil Rights. I don't care what differentiates them from what is considered the 'main stream' group. **Any** group of people whose civil rights are threatened or denied should be championed by the Democratic Party. Period. DB is dead wrong on that issue.

Thank you for posting.

32. Has nothing to do w/the matter at hand. Also, that's it? That's what has upset you?
That she didn't want gays included in one thing, at one particular time? It wasn't like she made an historical statement that gays have no civil rights. Seems to me that she wanted blacks to have their special moment, with their special history, as regards the Civil Rights Movement.

It doesn't seem like a big deal to me, but then, I'm not gay. But her point is well taken.

Gays were really not involved in the Civil Rights Movement. They didn't actively support it, march for it, die for it. The Civil Rights Movement IS in particular an African American movement.

That doesn't mean that she wouldn't support rights for gays at some other time, in some other way.

But all of this has nothing to do with the matter at hand. This seems similar to me of the Hillary Clinton supporters who seem to hate everyone who disagrees with their position in any way, on any subject.

Gays were really not involved in the Civil Rights Movement. They didn't actively support it, march for it, die for it.

You don't think any of those marchers in the 60's were gay?

Get a friggin' grip! In the late 50's and early 60's you couldn't even be out like today. Plenty of gays marched, supported and died for civil rights.....you just didn't know they were gay because there was NO GAY PRIDE then. Jesus! How dense!

49. Thank you for posting the link
Gays have, from the get go, supported black causes. It was in the gay movement, back in those dark days, where blacks and whites were unquestionable equals. For Brazil to co-opt the equal rights movement is obscene. So get back in the closet Donna and hate yourself on your own time.

35. She made a great point, but...
...her anti-gay bigoted stance blows my mind! How dare she deem gays as unworthy of being included in the Civil Rights Movement! She's a minority who's most probably suffered discrimination at the hands of the majority. But now here she sits committing the same sins she and the rest of the American black folks suffered through for centuries! Donna, dear, don't you get it? You've become a powerful person, and sadly you're using that power to victimize another minority, the LGBT crowd. The hypocrisy amazes me! I say we start a grassroots movement to run her out of the Democratic party, since she's obviously not very democratically minded. Shame on you, Donna Brazile!!!

Never met a gay in real life only what they see on the news or TV and thats their full opinion on who gays are. Going to a black church that consistently preaches anti-gay rhetoric doesn't help either.

Overall she has good intentions, but is just so blinded by her Gay hate it hurts.

39. Good for you Donna! It is about time someone within the party said
the word cheating. I have been dismayed that the MSM had not covered nearly enough attention to how this mess began within the party in Michigan and Florida. Those elected officials that contributed to this mess should be hung out to dry by the voters in those two states...when they chose to disobey those rules, they screwed their constituents and have been pointing fingers at anything and everyone else to blame.
