nonsense bills. This is one to fight because you mean it, not just pay lip service to fighting for it.

I suffer with this angst all of the time. I try and try to give the Dems the benefit of the doubt but the fact is- they suck balls. Republican balls. Cenk is right, and until these spineless turds FEAR US they will continue on their present course. Their approval ratings are in fact WORSE than Bush's.

8. I fell in love with the end of that article!!!
"The main advantage of the Democrats is that they know we have nowhere to turn. They know we're smart enough to not vote for these Republicans. And that might be true in the short-term. But we better be making plans to throw these bums out the next time around. Make a list of all the people who collaborated with the Republicans when it mattered. And in due time, they should all get a knock on the door, from a primary opponent. Let's make a list and check it twice. And never forget those names."

I love it!!!

when Emiliano Zapata finally comes to power and realizes he has become like that which he fought to overthrow. The Democrats have become the "Neo-Republicans"!

36. When will people get it thru their heads that we can't throw them out. It sounds so democratic
to say that we will throw them out. We all feel so much better for having said that. But it is impossible to vote out a Democratic incumbent in the primary process. It's been tried but the only way is to vote for a republican.

I'd like to think this is the exception (and again, I think it will be), but only time will tell.

22. I have rec'ed this thread and I agree, BUT
Edited on Fri Jun-20-08 07:05 PM by FREEWILL56
isn't this supposed to be against DU rules by saying bad things about dems to this degree? We are seeing many threads like this and, though I totally agree with those threads, they can be banned as well as myself because of the comments made and my agreeing with them. We are supposed to have some sort of blind loyalty to dems even if they don't act like dems should and this was the downfall of the puke party as it was that party loyalty that seems to over-ride loyalty to one's country, the constitution, etc.. As was said there are exceptions in government as there are some who are trying to do the right things, but those in power in the democratic party itself seem to be pushing those doing the right things out of sight and out of mind in compliance with the will of the overthrown republican party. This is how we wound up with a choice between Hilary and Barak as neither were real good candidates and were in DU poll after poll near the bottom of the barrel. This implies my worst fears that our party is being overthrown by the same element as is in the republican party.
My question is to Skinner and the rest involved in DU as to where do you draw the line as I've little good to say about too many of our so called democratic representatives? I do not praise the pukes just to clarify. Do we praise democratic crap (or in the case of DU rules hold our tongues) or strive to criticize the crap in order to gain a good direction and rightful representation? I will not vote for the our nominee and would not have voted for Hilary either if she'd have been nominated. I feel our party is being corrupted and overthrown and I am far from being alone in this observation. It is not just our party that is in deep trouble, but our country, its principles and statutes that we used to stand by, its steadfastness to doing what is right and to sacrifice for that, etc.. It has succumbed to greed, power, and lawlessness and those are all anti-American qualities I'm seeing in now a majority of dem leaders and not just pukes.

Check out the end of Cenk's article on this topic (telecom immunity/Dems caving): http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x3490548

PS---I'd hate to think that we aren't free to express anger, frustration and at times, disgust over things that our party does. If we don't we are, in my opinion, no better than the Republicans who continue to blindly support Bush and give him his 25% (give or take 5 points) approval rating.

Edited on Fri Jun-20-08 08:22 PM by FREEWILL56
I may have to go reread those rules to be sure if it applies to all dems or just those on DU.
edit to add:
I reread them and in my opinion the rules are broad enough to go for or against the high degree criticism of those dems in office or control of the party and not just members here.

31. I can tell you this:
Edited on Fri Jun-20-08 10:11 PM by Zodiak Ironfist
It is only one contingent of people on DU that demand absolute loyalty to the party, right or wrong. They will excuse or rationalize just about anything, as we have been witness to time and time again over the years. That is their personality.

But that is not DU policy as far as I understand it. You are allowed to criticize Democrats from the left as much as you want short of working against them in the general election. There is a lot of wiggle room in that, and I have never seen anyone banned that stayed within these confines (well, once...but that person just demanded to be banned so Skinner obliged him...classic).

Good Democrats want to improve the party and make it more responsive to the people. Criticism is part of that process, as is the rationing of support to elements in the party you wish to see gain greater voice.

32. OK, but what if doing all that for those good reasons involves that
one must go against a democrat being in office in hopes of getting a more qualified person in office because that democrat has failed to do what is right. Gee Pelosi comes to mind and I'll support Cindy over that republican ass kisser any day. There's the line I was refering to as what if there wasn't a Cindy there as an alternative? Are we to be held to support that person in office in spite of it all for I see nothing wrong with wanting even a democrat that is not doing their job properly out of office. Many dems are blatently up the asses of the republican will and not serving the people. Democratic loyalty or get the bum out? See my point?

33. I see your point, of course
You are always free to have those sentiments. No one is here to tell you how to feel or how to vote (well, they might be, but that is their personal agenda). Only what you openly advocate here.

I am a big proponent of voting the DLC and the rest of the Bush Democrats out of the party. Join the DFA, it is one of their missions...but they do it in the primaries to keep those seats out of Republican hands. There have been a number of successes this primary season, even. Keeping those seats out of Republican hands is important, though, because incumbency is a strong force to oppose.

50. Thanks for answering.
I think there will be a problem then if say the likes of Pelosi were to run for re-election or even president as at that point we are giving blanket immunity to said candidate here because of the dem designation in spite of how the candidate actually is and is a loyalty in spite of situation. Though DU has been forgiving in this area to a point I am afraid that under my said example many of us would be banned as we hold higher values.
