Donohue/Pozner: Discussion with Noam Chomsky (Part Six)

Aired in 1993 ... I'm going to break it up in varoius parts and I'll cut & paste the first three paragraphs to additional parts.

This is one of the strangest videos I came across. I brought it for a $1.00 at a flea market (great deal) and during breaks in Donohue/Ponzer the person who taped this would channel surf to this low-rent, public-access XXX show. One of the XXX commercials had this guy who looked like a cross between Hugh Hefner and a Geico cavemen surrounded by five tranny-like Women (though there was one hot Asian chick)

The person also taped some great Malcolm X stuff too ... if anyone finds or has any cool news tapes from the past and can't convert them to DVD/MP3 let me know.

This is the last part (woo-hoo) ... this segment is probably the most important as Chomsky goes into: belief systems, the ways power is distributed in this country and how it shapes the news, and a comparsion of the Western's media coverage of East Timor and Cambodia (which Chomsky comments as involving one nation stealing the oil resources of another.)

Chomsky also makes writer Thomas Wolfe look like a complete fool and "what can't be heard ..."

At the end of the broadcast it appears that Mr. Chomsky was to appear in the next show, sadly I don't have that tape ... but if you're at a flea market or a thrift shop take a look at the used videos, there might be a gem in there.
