The economy held on "one more day". That is why you shouldn't have a drink around the computer. I know the die hard 40 percent won't care, but the 10% need to see that. We've already seen one Barnum and Bailey showman in office, we don't need another.

It reminds me of the Mad article right after Mission: Accomplished. Yes, I have a child; but, like Star Trek, Mad lives on in our hearts forever. Mad was comparing Presidents Better or Worse? and compared Bush to Monroe, Bush came out "worse" because it said that Monroe would never dream of dressing up like an Admiral and strutting around on a Navy Ship after the War of 1812.

Letterman will drop this, but go in with a shiv from here on out.

8. Does the McCain campaign understand that it's so easy to check if you're lying or not?

First, he and Palin just throw all kinds of BS out on the campaign stops, only to have it dissed within hours by people with access to the internets and other technology.

It's one thing to tell Letterman he has an urgent trip to Washington and must cancel his appearance on his show, but geez, he's doing an interview during the same time he's supposed to have talked to Letterman...within the same TV network no less.

Don't these guys understand the concept of communication? Do they understand how fast you can be proven a liar with today's technology?

It's like they're living in the 19th Century and their lifeline of communication is the Pony Express.

How did he think Dave was going to miss that one? The guy never left NY, he had to know Letterman would at least find out that much.

What I think it is is John McCain has a real contempt for people. He considers himself the paragon of integrity so that anybody who questions his motives or disagrees is automatically wrong, because he wouldn't be doing anything wrong in the first place. I think that's why he lies and his campaign lies so much. They don't care. It's a means to an end. Oh so Letterman is mad? John McCain gets mad back. Why? Because he's putting country first! Nevermind that he never even was needed or went to Washington until the next day. It's just not acceptable to John McCain that somebody would even question John McCain in the first place. So they lie, lie, lie, lie, but it's fine, because John McCain is a man of great integrity. Go figure.
