67. He sounds only half-hearted because he was on the defensive
I remember this interview clip. OLielly was badgering him and accusing him of not supporting The Great Decider 100%. :eyes:

He missed his chance IMO. He may be ahead in the polls (shudder) if he had gone the other way and kept up his reputation as a maverick. I think many independents would have admired him more if he had held his ground on saying no to torture, saying no to the tax cuts, and recently saying no to the bailout of Wall Street.

Especially on this last point, it would have boxed him in to a position that he could not 'win' in the sense of holding up the bailout, because it had enough bi-partisanship support, BUT it would have cemented him as the maverick hero who tried but honorably failed to defend the poor debt ridden American against the greedy grubby Wall Street Mr. Burns's. Of course in actuality he has a record of defending de-regualation, and would have secretly been for the bailout, but knowing it had no danger of NOT passing, he could have snatched at the opportunity to distance himself from not only the Democrats, including Obama, who voiced approval of the deal, but Bush who initiated it as well. Too bad , so sad.

I'm just glad he has such STOOOPID advisers cough....Palin...cough

46. Conservative trolls are not allowed but before you go
let me correct your absurd charge that the mortgage meltdown was created by F. Mae/F. Mac loans/loans for minorities, etc.

As reported by McClatchy, 84% of subprime loans were from *private lenders*. You wanting to blame the 16% indicates that Fox News/Rush Limbaugh/Glenn Beck is your primary source of information.

PS---60% of African Americans given subprime mortgages qualified for fixed rate mortgages. I wonder if the people giving the loans were influenced by the $4,000 bonuses for giving subprime m's instead? Nah, I doubt that had anything to do with it. So yes, it was the conservative ideology of less and less and less rules (i.e. deregulation) that screwed our economy and our country.

48. Ah, MisterBill! Your hero is going down hard.
But, in the spirit of a gracious winner, we Democrats are happy to have you continue hanging on to your illusions, spouting your lies, blaming Clinton for the past eight-year tragedy, and the economic collapse due to your party's deregulation mantra. I guess torture, climate dangers, lost jobs, wars, lost insurance, et al, ad nauseum, ad infinitum are to be blamed on Clinton as well, huh?

Well, neighbor...if it hurts you that Obama is going to be President, then suffer! Your ilk will continue to disparage Democrats even if, by some miracle, that good Party is able to pull the Country out of the morass to which you willfully ignorant, deceitful, bitter folks have brought us.

Whine, moan, cry, lie, scream, dissemble, bitch, grumble as is your penchant. Yet, the kind man that we support will do his best to see that you are taken care of, as well. Time for you to run along now; we've got important work to do.

64. Absolutely! - Obama & the Dems must clearly show republican McCain's ties to republican Bush
Edited on Tue Oct-21-08 01:03 PM by GreenTea
They must continue to pound it in, McSame - McBush.

And that it will positively be another four years of the same republicans and Bush rule & agenda if McCain is elected or steals the election..........more imperialism & corporate socialism, fascism, i.e. stealing the workers & middle class taxes for the rich, corporations & military goals while saying fuck you to the peoples needs.

i cant think of who he reminds me of--on the tip of my tongue. someone from the old shows that was sort of creepy and whiny-voices, sleazy. maybe a character Ron Howard's brother played?

If you didnt know who McCain was, and you heard him speaking to someone like that, say at a table at a mall food court or something--would you trust that dude? Heck no. You'd think he was nuts. That there is something odd with him. He's creepy.

Totally scrubbed - the audio can be found, but not the video.

Use this to the max. What is so eerie (eery?) is how off-balance he even SOUNDS in this clip. Creepy!

57. Insight into the Palin choice
I don't know if this has occurred to anyone else. I grant all that everyone says about how choosing Palin reflects horribly on McCain's judgment, maturity, integrity, etc. But it also shows that he had NO CLUE AT ALL about what state the economy was really in back in July. Otherwise he would have picked someone like Romney. Can you imagine how much more statesmanlike he could have been appearing to be, with Romney at his side doing his best Ward-Cleaver-As-CEO act during the stock market crash? (I know it would all be a sham, but the media would have gone along with it.)

where he states triumphantly that he voted Bush's way 90% of the time.

and you could end it with the clip from the recent debate where he states to Obama:
