7. Why the HELL has this man gotten so panned by the media in this country?
oh...wait...i know....

HE MIGHT ACTUALLY MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

No man that might actually make a real difference in the politics of this country stands a chance these days, of this i am convinced.

Thomas Jefferson couldn't be elected to School Board today.

It's a fucking shame.

You go, John!

24. M$M's spotlight is on the centrist candidates,
HRC and Obama especially. The progressives don't get nearly the attention they deserve, because of the M$M's perception/meme of the country as "conservative."

I think if they actually listened to "we the People," the M$M would be in for a shock.

Actually, given that people called "centrists" are typically centre-right and the extreme right, I think right tackles is exactly the right term.

18. Just voted today, as a matter of fact. :)
Normally, I'm a straight-ticket Democrat - fill in that one oval, and I'm done - in and out in like, two seconds, right? But today I decided to take that extra time to fill in each oval next to each Democrat - laborious, but OMG was it ever satisfying. ;) No doubt in the world who I meant to vote for. :D

37. That hits close to home
I have done the same thing in the last three elections, only I play a little game with myself. "Hmm, the Republican incumbent, or the Democratic challenger? The Fascist party or the Freedom party? Well, I guess I have to choose the Democrat." Hey, why not enjoy it? :)

And I have to say, too, that this man is so inspiring. It really does feel like he's talking directly with a group of four or five of us at a time. I would like to see him run in 2008. I could get fired up for him then like I'm fired up for David Van Os this year (Democratic candidate for Texas Attorney General). If you want to get motivated, check out his campaign at vanosfortexasag.com.

I don't think I'll be voting early this year, though. It's always very easy to get in at my local polling place. And I have to admit, it's just part of the thrill of voting for me, to stand in line with my fellow citizens doing my duty. I don't think I'll have that luxury in 2008, though. Even my dyed red neighborhood is putting up a fair number of Democratic Party signs this year, so I can only imagine the backlash to come.

35. That's why John Edwards says the next two elections ...
... are the most important ones.

Literally, we cannot wait another six years while the climate crisis picks up steam and the economy slides downhill. We cannot wait another two years to start fighting the fights and tarring the Republicans with the brush of being against Energy Independence. We've got to start now, and then carry through in 2008.

13. John is so right. I called for two hours tonight and actually spoke
to some citizens who are not going to vote. I find it shocking that we have to beg people to vote in this country. But as John said, we do, so DUers please get out there. It may already be too late for the earth and the country. But we know for any chance of saving ourselves and the polar bears and the people of Darfur and all the wonderful etcs. we MUST act now. Check out the latest environmental news from the UK. Every day now there are two or three new articles and studies deploring our (the USA is no. one perpetrator) diminishment of the species and the earth we all share.

Apparently a lot of people thought it was. Majority rules, my friend. But I'd like to know why this impassioned GOTV video is not "worthy" of the greatest page a week before the election. Do educate. If our candidates are able to get across the stakes of these midterms as plainly as Edwards does in his appeal, we might very well become the change we seek.

82. Did you even watch the video?
My God. We're all on the same team, folks - we may like different players, but right now we're all supposed to be working together as a team to get people to the polls, voting for Democrats. That's what this video is about.

You may not like the guy, but surely you cannot dispute his message here..

83. Criticizing Medium, not the Message. . .
a message coming from MOST EVERY Democrat who knows the high stakes at risk next week.

Edwards' speech, which I did watch unlike your snarky question suggests to negate my criticism, is just another delivery of same meme. . .not the greatest speech of this election season as this thread is pushing. . .Edwards' supporters SAY they're for Team Democrat but they're recommending this thread as the greatest thread for TEAM EDWARDS 2008. . .OVER THE TOP. . .

Video Forum = another medium that becomes the message. . .Edwards' fanatics keeping their "American Idol" high profile to drown out Obama. . .Gore. . .Clark

And don't ASSUME that I don't like Edwards; quite frankly it's his zealous fanatics I don't like.

84. I recommended this thread because I thought Edwards gave a great speech.
I am not a part of TEAM EDWARDS 2008, or any team for 2008 yet. I'm keeping an open mind at this point about who I want our candidate to be, but right now it's not even a priority. Getting Bob Casey elected has been a priority; getting John Murtha re-elected has been another priority.

I believe as Democrats we will have many wonderful choices for our candidate in 2008. I am not ready to make that choice now, but I will recommend a good speech for greatest page whenever I see one...and that was the case here. :)

85. In reality
There is a TEAM EDWARDS in Des Moines, but most of us are unaffiliated with it. However, they get out and do stuff for other Dems, such as Chet Culver, who is in a tight race for Governor.

68. Edwards belongs on the ticket in '08. The question is where, with whom?
I'd love to see Edwards/Obama or Edwards/Gore (unlikely!) or Edwards/Clark.

72. EDWARDS IS AWESOME!
He's the only candidate in the 04 races who consistently carried the independent and RHINO votes. That means he's a Democrat with the ability to win more than our nomination, more than the ability to lead Democrats, but also the ability to lead Americans as well. I voted for him in our primary and will campaign for him if he runs. PLEASE RUN JOHN!!!!

89. Edwards is a good guy, a great speaker, and an AMERICAN!
He's not someone who is just telling me what I wish were true, but instead he tells me what the facts are, and then how to fix it. How many other Presidential hopefuls just give fiery speeches without any real ideas?! Edwards is my man for 08 and 12!!!!

74. I saw him give a similar speech in Reno last week! This clip doesn't
do justice to his full message -- he was right on target in how, from his travels, he's seen the chaos across the world resulting from this failed administration. He tied it all together much more eloquently than I am here with this post. I only wish he was talking to a larger, average-voters crowd -- it was a week-day, mid-day event and we had a smaller turnout than we hoped. He was speaking to the base here. Nevertheless, the point was to get our volunteers motivated for the last GOTV push, and to take the message forward into the neighborhoods. Very inspiring! Thanks for the clip.

88. I agree
This clip was simply pulling out his GOTV message. Here's a longer clip more to the point (and more geared to a 2008 run): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jFWbKOiJwWk

91. Thanks.
That's another thread in itself. I read on NPR's website today that the pundits are watching out for NC-8 this cycle, they think it is a real toss-up. One of the reasons cited was the fact that Shuler has got Edwards to campaign for him. They've done two events together I believe? Heath is probably not the kind of dem that most at DU idealize, but he's got a great shot at the seat - wow, less than a week left!

75. Kos just blogged about this race on his site
NC-11 and the competitive South

Elon University. 10/22-26. All voters. MoE 5% (No trend lines)

Taylor (R) 26
Shuler (D) 46

The race is tighter than that, since 2/3rds of poll respondents probably won't vote. And as you've seen in the CNN polling blogged earlier, the general populace is much more anti-Republican than likely voters. That's been one of our crutches the past few cycles.

86. Send this out to everyone to get them working
He makes you want to work. He makes you want to get up in the morning. After so much exclusion from the bullies of both parties, he asks you to join him. He asks you to become part of something big. There still is his belief like Thomas Paine's "That we have it in our power to begin the world again." I sen this to the ground troops in my county as we enter the final week, but to not stop there. This is a movement and not about an election.
