3. So what if it were true. It is relative. Obama is a rich man and he does

5. The only time I've seen rhodium used in jewelry
is as a plating on cheap silver jewelry, to make it non-tarnish.

I heard the story about the ring on the radio, and thought it sounded strange. It might have been made up, or it might have been mis-reported. Platinum, anyone?

6. Okay, I've looked it up.
Rhodium is a precious metal in the platinum family, which is liquid in its pure state. It is used to plate jewelry that appears white, not only silver, but anything from junk to white gold and platinum. It gives a very shiny, non-tarnish surface.

I also found another story that says the orignial story about the ring was bunk.
