Remember also that Matthew's RELENTLESS coverage of the "16 WORDS" is what prompted Scooter Libby to call Tim Russert. Libby complaining on behalf of Cheney that Matthews should be shut down.

As you remember, Libby later falsely claimed that Russert leaked Plame's identity to him during this call.

At anyrate, Matthews has done a fair number of pieces over the years analysing the mis-uses of intelligence by Cheney and Bush. These comments don't come out of nowhere like you suggest.

I'm as left as they come, but if I want to hear echo chamber stuff, I watch Keith. However, the wonk in me, (and let's not forget, we are all pretty much wonks here) loves Matthews. It's too late for him or anyone else in the MSM who gave a pass to Dubya all these years to ponder over what might have been, and what never should have happened.
