2. Are You Fucking Kidding Me!?
Reagan labeled the big bad USSR that was falling apart by the 1980s, as the "evil empire" to incite fear amongst Americans, making them believe that the Soviets were gonna nuke us or invade us "Red Dawn" style.

And don't ya just love how he basically pines over the Reagan quote, nearly having an orgasm in the process, then just throws out the FDR quote to be fair and balanced.

Then he has the unbelievable gall to completely misquote one of the greatest lines ever uttered by an American President. How exactly does "The only thing we have to fear, is fear itself," mean get over your self pity!

What they (Faux news) don't show is the rest: nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance. In every dark hour of our national life a leadership of frankness and vigor has met with that understanding and support of the people themselves which is essential to victory. I am convinced that you will again give that support to leadership in these critical days.

He was telling people not to fear their desperate situations, and instead work together to move the country forward. Where Self Pity falls into that context, I have no fucking idea where these people get their facts.

Oh yeah and what a great historian

:sarcasm:

4. It's interesting, isn't it?
Reagan's quote was a means to demonize and make us frightened of a people that couldn't really do us a lot of harm, apart from a nuclear holocaust, of course. While FDR's quote is that of a man speaking to a country with real, legitimate fears - as in, will I have to eat my shoe leather for dinner - and giving them the courage to struggle on, together.

The contrast couldn't be more stark, nor could Cavuto have missed the point any more egregiously.

5. That's nothin'... Couple o' weeks ago, Faux was blaming FDR for the Depression...
'Cause, you know, he sat on his ass from 1929 until he became president in 1933 before he actually DID something! And then he tried to blame poor Herbert Hoover...
