1. I think we should bail out the Big 3's employees directly -- pay them full
salary to relax at home for a 6 month break while the Big 3 are taken over by the union workers who would take those companies soooo green so fast our heads would spin.

How's that? :hi:

2. huh?
I'm reading your post the third time....so pay the workers to stay at home while the workers take over and go green? Confusing...

I think you might need to rewrite.

BTW consider the fact that electric cars (I loved that movie too) have to have electricity, and where that electricity is going to come from. We need an infrastructure for that..and we need to generate the electricity. How do we do that? I think there should be all the money that would get thrown into nuclear, coal, etc into developing better solar panels. But they ain't here yet. This stuff is complicated, yo.

4 million jobs, pal. You might wanna give it some thought. And it AIN'T a bailout, it's a loan.

Punish the idiots at the top? Hells yeah. But those idiots that did a lot of the mistakes of the last 30 years ain't here no more. This is a whole new bunch. Some of them should be shit canned, no doubt. But you might want to think about those workers a little more.

This documentary shows cars just 10 years ago that were just demolished instead of improved upon. I totally blame the top management who buried their heads about new technology.

As a union worker myself at one time, I think about the workers. The top management needs to either be replaced or learn how to adjust to current life as it is. For instance - how stupid was it for them to go to Washington with their hand out, while flying there in individual separate private jets? That really angered folks like me. Hence the post.

Hey, I see you are from Detroit - I honestly hope the car industry turns around. The St. Paul, MN Ford plant has been dealt major blows also. I have only best wishes for the real workers.

4. Let the oil companiesuse their record-breaking windfall profits to subsidize the auto industry.
If it were not for the auto industry, the oil companies would never have gotten the power they have.
After all the years the auto companies pimped for big oil, the least they could do is leave a few bucks on the night table.

6. This "documentary" contains many inaccuracies.
Here's a good debunking of some of the myths that it propagates.

http://blogs.edmunds.com/karl/2006/06/gms-ev1----who-killed-common-sense.html

Short version: the limitations on the EV1 gave it a pretty small market, at a very high cost per unit. Under those circumstances, it's no surprise that the company would discontinue the line when they were no longer legally mandated to build it, and stop leasing out the vehicles.

7. The lack of renewable energy killed it.
It's about how we generate electricity.

We already have electric cars. We've had them since the sixties. Even if we had used lead acid batteries, we didn't, and still don't have the means by which to generate renewable electricity.

9. The irrevocably STUPID thing the auto companies did with the electric cars was
to destroy them all. STUPID STUPID STUPID. Perhaps a case can be made why they were not profitable, practical, whatever. But WHY DESTROY THEM??? STUPID!!!!
