It has enough self-contradictory pronouncements that you can cherry-pick your way to any conclusion you like.

It therefore serves mostly to identify what kind of a person is reading it.

(Although, being taken through it by the wrong sort of 'expert' can lead a well-meaning person astray)

I am glad they pointed out the rules and "abominations" from the Old Testament that are ignored. If you're going to follow it, then follow it all. Don't pick and choose the rules that suite you.

Personally, I think that most all of the bible and religions are nonsense. The only things I do agree with that I've heard from those quarters would be; treat others as you wish to be treated, and have concern for "the least among you". Both of those concepts and beliefs existed before Christianity.

Empathy and compassion may be practiced towards others without wild mythical belief and ritual. I believe empathy and compassion are the only things that may "save" us.
