On Fox's On the Record with Greta Van Susteren, news model guest host Jamie Colby gives Karl Rove a chance to do a bit of revisionist history with the Bush legacy and how he'll be remembered.

Colby: Karl before I let you go much of what the President-elect inherits, the tough economic times, the war as you raised, health care, so many issues facing so many Americans. There's a lot of finger pointing that the Bush administration is responsible for a lot of what ails us right now and I wonder whether at the time that the President Bush took office he could not have predicted that we would have 9-11 and that national security needed to be priority number one. Do you predict in the end the legacy for President Bush will be that we have not had another terrorist attack? That he has kept us safe and that his priorities were in order?

Rove: I think that will be a big part of it. I think history is going to see him as a man who put America on a war footing in a struggle that will have shaped the nature of this century. He will be seen as someone who liberated Afghanistan and Iraq. Fifty million people now live in freedom in those two countries who did not know freedom before. And he will also be seen as somebody who's created a strategy to confront terrorism that is going to make America and the world safer in the years to come.

Look, judgments of history are harsh in the short run and unfairly so many times. Harry S. Truman left office. In fact the slogan at the time was "To err is Truman". He left town not very popular and yet history regards him now as a much different person and I think this President is not going to leave office with that same state. He's going to be at a relatively low ratings but much better than some of his predecessors. History though is going to be kind to him at the end. I'm absolutely confident of that.

6. For whom the bell tolls...
I am not a religious person, but I like to believe their is some ultimate justice pricks like these face when the curtains close for good.
Bush, Rove, and the crony bunch can spin and spin all they want, but the end grows closer every day, as it does for everyone, until that one day when they will face true, final judgment. Spin doesn't scare the reaper freeper.
There are some aspects of organized religions, especially in Christianity that I respect, that most of its followers never seem to follow (Bushies included) like charity, modesty, and peace. If they actually read the bible, they would find that "the one who dies with the most toys does NOT win," that those who sit on their ivory towers, swimming in wealth made off the labor of others, and have given nothing in return but poverty and death in life, enter that other place on the same level as everyone else to face judgment on their deeds.
There will be no heaven, no elysium, no xanadu, nothing for these people when the bell tolls. There will be only darkness.

10. That's a pretty big dose of Kool Aid you're asking us to swallow Karl...
And there they go again, comparing Bush to Truman (Bush has also been fond of comparing himself to FDR) I think a more accurate comparison would be to Grant or Coolidge.

31. An accurate comparison would be James Buchanan
President who proceeded Lincoln and was widely noted for standing by and helping to sow the seeds of the Civil War.

38. Not bad, but I still like my analogies better:
Ulysses S Grant, whose administration was, until recently, more notoriously rife with scandal than any before or since.
-and-
Calvin Coolidge, whose irresponsible, short-sighted economic policies set the stage for the Great Depression and were the model for Reaganomics.
.
.
.
(And I suppose I should also mention the Hitler administration, which cultivated fear and xenophobia to justify the suppression of civil liberties and the launching of wars of aggression)

14. The Bush admin. succeeded in everything they tried to do.
They tried to steal billions....and they succeeded.
They tried to cover-up their illegal activities...and they succeeded.
They tried to cover-up Daddy Bush's bad deeds....and they succeeded.
They tried to blame it all the Democrats...and so far have succeeded.
They tried to bring back torture....and they succeeded.
They are trying to pardon all of their guilty asses...and they are succeeding.

Brilliant success...:puke: :puke: :puke:

17. "History Will Place Bush Above James Buchanan" only when it lists their names in reverse
alphabetical order.

Rove better get used to the idea that his boss will OWN the title of WORST PRESIDENT EVER for a LONG time to come and maybe forever. And Rove will go down in history as the corrupt, evil, murdering "genius" that made it all possible.

anyone in presidential history close to Bush will be the two terms of U.S. Grant. But then again Grant can be excused as an war hero who was out of depth in the world of politics.

19. Have you all noticed the way that Karl Rove uses his hands to make a point.
He is a master liar. The Democrats in the House of Representatives, with a few exceptions, should have impeached Bush and Cheney. Justice demanded it. Yet, it did not happen. I would have loved to see Karl Rove try to spin how good a president Bush was in light of a Bush/Cheney impeachment.

40. Sadly, perhaps Rove is correct
If we have a future like that of Soylent Green, Omega Man, Blade Runner or even Max Headroom, the world we live in right now will be turned to pure shit in the long run. If that is what faces us, the Bush administration will be responsible for turning society into the haves and the have-nots, a blighted existence of pure, unadulterated poverty and violence.

Congress has already set the stage, with allowing these major criminals, Bush and Cheney, to be free of impeachment, and allowing all their crimes to be forgotten and forgiven. Trying to cooperate or compromising as the current Congress has allowed, speaks volumes--if you have one lie, and you do it in your personal life, you are not acceptable to the Oval office: if you lie about a lot of things, accept goodies from your rich buddies, if you instigate war against another nation which had nothing to do with retribution, you are more than perfect as the CiC.

Getting rid of these people is harder than it appears on the surface. There is an entire sub-government, the real power in this nation, which remains in place, and which controls our country. We might never know who they are--but we need to accept that as a truth, and go on from there. Perhaps Obama will be the first one to "crack the code" as it were, and free us from their influence, but I currently accept that we will never be free from undue patronage from TPTB.
