It seems RNC Chairman Michael Steele had this odd impression he was the head of the Republican Party. Wrong-ooo! He's the titular head. So when he complained to CNN's D. L. Hugely about his statement Rush was the de facto head of the party, Steele fought back.

However, Steele's since gotten down on bended knee and kissed Rush's ass real hard: “My intent was not to go after Rush - I have enormous respect for Rush Limbaugh. I was maybe a little bit inarticulate. … There was no attempt on my part to diminish his voice or his leadership.”

Enter Ann Coulter and Glenn Beck to suck Rush's toes. And doesn't it put such a smile on Rush's face. ;)
