Not Harding, Nixon, or even Bush II or Hoover were as bad as Raygun.
He was incompetent to the point at which he had little idea what was going on in his own administration and what he did know about he lied.
He blamed Carter for massive inflation, even though all competent economists said it was caused by incompetent Republican fed appointees going back to the Nixon administration. Then he took credit for fixing inflation when Volcker (a Carter appointee) was the person all competent economists credit with the accomplishment.
He tripled the federal debt reviving the cold war even though the CIA (correctly) told him the Soviet Union was swirling the drain. Then he gladly took credit when the Berlin wall came down (although in his defense most of his brain was a mass of diseased jelly by that time).
He bankrolled terrorists all over the world which we are still having trouble with to this day.
He presided over one of the most corrupt administrations (arguably THE most corrupt administration) in US history.
Taxes on the poor and middle class were HIGHER when he left office vs when he came to office, yet he took credit for "lowering taxes".
I guess it's no small wonder the Republicans love him to this day. After all they voted for Bush II twice.
