Sotto voce (literally "under voice" in Italian) means to speak under one's breath.

Edit: Roctivity beat me to it

7. Sorry, Rachel
I'm sorry.

I love Rachel. I know NBC plays dirty with their on-air talent. I know Obermann didn't have the balls to say anything at all ... but this was pathetically short of the mark.

With sympathy, I hope Rachel has a chance to quietly explain, maybe through friends; detailing why she and Keith ignored this major National news story.

Rachel and Keith don't have the right to criticize a sleazy, destructive journalistic practices of others on their shows (say; at Fox News), if they engage in that same practice themselves, while trying to look like they aren't; and then happily ignoring the damage that they themselves do to the rest of us when they ignore the uncomfortable story. It's called "hypocracy," and I am having none of it.

8. Just a valued reminder who at the end of the day calls the shots for these people
as much as Keith and Rachel speak "truth to power", when the power is NBC the shots are called for them. I understand that as I watch so I take it for what its worth.

12. as good as she is ...
she is already tamped down on the tee vee. Her 'radio' show is a rebroadcast of day before MSNBC!

On radio she started every day with Iraq news, her 'life during wartime' segment. On radio she had a huge variety of guests and real criticism and stories found nowhere else. I am a little appalled that much of her MSNBC time repeats Countdown stuff. I am glad that she gets air time at all. The corporate media (now air america radio too) is about content control. Rachel has talked about that so I know that she knows. I never heard her 'Unfiltered' radio show but I bet it was great.

It is past time to get anti trust laws back, and enforced.

9. The most amazing thing about this whole episode was Cramer's willingness to.....
go on the show and just take it.

10. They knew at CNBC that Cramer was the one who coul take it...
And he was the one they sent to act as the Straw Man for Wall Street, and I use this word lightly, Journalists...

11. Even Rachel Downplays Significance...
It isn't just that financial news channels did not flag the abuses that lead to the current crisis. Rather, the financial news media actively participated in efforts to pump up the financial industry. Cramer was getting nailed, because he was an active apologist for the financial industry. They actively mislead the American people.

13. It doesn't surprise me how the politically pure here have begun their sniping campaign against Rache...
planting little seeds of criticism, doubting her integrity.

Ya'all can quit that bullshit. If you don't like her style, quit watching and suspend your commentary.

14. Who is saying anything about her style and integrity?
She has that in spades and I am sure most on DU would agree with that. The point I was making is that at the end of the day no matter how much integrity Maddow has, she answers to NBC news who answers to GE. Unfortunately that is the cold hard fact of corporate media in this country. If you fail to see that then you haven't been paying attention.

If you don't agree with her 100 percent you must be a traitor, isn't that the concept that we have fought against for the last 8 years?
