WASHINGTON — Don't blame the Bush administration for all the country's economic problems.

That's the message from former Vice President Dick Cheney.

President Barack Obama constantly talks about the enormous economic troubles that he inherited when he took office in January. Cheney agrees that Obama did indeed came into power amid very difficult economic circumstances.

But Cheney says he doesn't think the Bush administration can be blamed for creating the economic woes. Cheney says it's a global financial problem. He says the idea that fault can assigned to the previous administration is "interesting rhetoric" but he doesn't think people care about that.

Cheney spoke on CNN's "State of the Union."

11. Actually, it doesn't surprise me one bit.
The Democrats have, unfortunately, been consistent in their weakness when it came time to stand up to these criminals and that is why the Regressives continue to get bolder. Look at Reid, Pelosi, or Leahy just to name a few. I really wish we had Webb and Kucinich leading their respective houses. Maybe then we would see some justice.

$600,000 a minute in borrowed money to run a war that Cheney started so he

We know what you did the last eight years.

Is this the best the rightwing think tanks could strategize?

Cheney is Rush without the entertainment value.

8. Why is Cheney not wearing a horizontal stripped suit and busting rocks in the
hot sun? Does having an evil war criminal on your network make CNN somehow a little complicit?

Cheney is irrelevant and John King will soon be as well if he give trash like this air time again.

This was a softball interview that makes CNN on politics look just like CNBC on financial issues.

John was weak and ineffective – worthless interview when it comes to substance. Sad for CNN but so be it.

15. Hell no...."don't blame the monkey and darth"....
Wouldn't do any good to blame them for anything. They simply deny having anything to do with anything that turned to shit during their reign.

What a complete ass hole. I refuse to listen to him on any videos for the rest of my life. He is simply a disgusting, lying shit bag of puss. Absolutely the most disgusting human being I can think of.

He would have been a star in Hitler's day.....in Germany, of course.

16. History speaks the truth
Edited on Mon Mar-16-09 02:01 AM by Archie_Leach

Let's face some HARD facts: VERMIN SCUM cheney is an EXTREMELY Amoral person cut from the same SCUM as other SCUM like hitler and stalin and mao and pinochet....

SCUM like VERMIN SCUM cheney and above don't see human beings but rather see some "big picture of 'how' it 'SHOULD be'" and everything else can puke...

If there's ANY consolation for you folks out there, there is NO heaven or hell for VERMIN like VERMIN SCUM cheney BUT there IS VERMIN SCUM cheney being held historically with hitler, stalin, mao, OTHER SCUM....

THUS: the VERMIN SCUM cheney of *history* = TRASH, GARBAGE, ANTI-HUMAN, 'DEVIL', ANTI-GOD,.....!

17. John King needs to learn a lesson from Jon Stewart.
So long as so-called "journalists" let scum like Cheney ... who should indeed be in a cell right now ... get away with saying anything they want, without confronting them with hard facts that rebut what they say, we are very poorly served.

Cramer is not the only one who needs to be called out (and to his credit, he actually showed up knowing full well what the outcome was likely to be; Johnny Boy here probably will stay a million miles away).

So many media whores, so little time.

20. I think that Jon knows better than to touch that hot mess.
I'm imagining that the inevitable conclusion of a Stewart/Cheney interview would not be unlike Bradley Whitford's character in Billy Madison, Eric Gordon, being asked about business ethics.

21. Part of the problem
I think you hit on part of the problem. To do a hard hitting interview like John Stewart you have to prepare and be ready for any kind of spin (or at least most of it). A lot of these talking head 'journalists' don't seem to really prepare anything except the questions. Come on, how many times have you seen Cheney or other Republican/neocon representatives say something in an interview on network or cable news that you knew right away was a lie and the interviewer either ignores it or buys into the lie by accepting the framing and going on from there? The Repubs learned a long time ago that they can get away with spewing all kinds of bs in these interviews and they will very rarely be challenged. One of their favorite tricks is if the interviewer does actually seem to be catching them in a lie scream out 5 more lies real quick to try to get the interviewer off the subject. Of course you know be Republican rules of debate are whoever screams the loudest (especially while your opponent is speaking) and says the most words (especially if they are talking points - truth or lie not being relevant) wins.

24. The problem is that we don't have any actual journalists.
John King is typical of the today's so-called journalists. They are chosen not for their abilities but because they have a certain persona and physical attributes that are attractive. Underneath the $500.00 dollar suit, $100.00 haircut and manicure, there is a vast void. Nothing. Their absolute lack of any mental acumen is not viewed as a disaster, but as their most redeeming quality. They have the same mental capacity as the brainless twit selling used cars on TV.
