1. The Navy has been doing similar things like this for decades
with no measurable drawbacks. Should not even be an issue. Answer: Don't join the Navy.

2. I remember fire fight training in 'George' a cement bunker like
building with burning tires, and god knows what else..
You would be sent in with gasmasks on then be ordered to take them off.
I did not really have a phobia of fire up til then..then we were shown the film
"Remember the Forestall" A bomb came off of John McCains plane, set some (the storyline is not exactly clear, but McCain was quickly and quietly tranferred to Enterprise, the carrier I served on).
After seeing that film directly after (near as I remember it was 30 years ago) I have a phobia of wild fires of any kind.
The fire on the Forestall, burned thru flight deck and 12 or 13 decks killed 130 some sailors, I forget how many planes, cooked off bombs.
I STILL have the occasional nightmare and flash backs when I see smoke in the sky.
I could not see the clip. Satellite is slow and it eats up our allowance of bandwidth.
I don't see any reason at all for pepper spraying recruits let alone 'deadly' been sprayed with normal kind before.

3. The remarks on Clarence Thomas are so wrong on many levels
The speaker claims that these are Democratic values, but in reality, they are the Nationalistic propagnada that convinces people to sacrifice their time any energy for the benefit of the state. On the one side, it is a noble and just way of contributing to the common good, but over the years, this has led to Troops used as Experimental Animals for Nuclear Bomb tests. Boom and Bust economic policies that transfer wealth to big corporations and the government, and squander the energy of the Citizens for political gain, while converting a whole segment of trusting noble souls to follow the government obediently.

Both Liberal and Conservative goverments are the same in this respect. They need people to feel like they are doing something to better the community, but in the end, it is just another method of control, and the greedy exploiters will happily consume any benefits that arise out of this self sacrifice and well intentioned labor.

It should be "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do to better yourself, which strengthens the country more uniformly, without giving any particular segment priority."
