I'm only surprised that they felt the need to apologize for what is basically the way they operate.
edited for sad redundancy

7. So the Obama team gets flack again for not being McCain
When will these jerks get it right? They didn't cheat enough Americans out of their vote for McCain to be president. Throw that script out and realize he is the loser. And stop making Obama "keep" McCain's losing promises.

8. They're only doing this so they can later say, 'See, we are fair and balanced. we apologize...'
'while the liberal media refuses to apologize for bashing Bush'

9. 3 parts to an apology
Sister Dorthy would explain there are 3 parts to an apology (and being forgiven).

1) Acknowledge the sin.

2) Account for the sin (penance)

3) A COMMITMENT TO CHANGING ONES WAYS TO AVOID REPEATING THE SIN!

I suspect they'll skip that part. In the manufacturing world they call it "corrective action". i.e. changing procedures so the mistake can't be repeated.

11. So obvious that it was intentional
You cannot convince me that 'professional' newsroom editors did not listen to the the tape in the seconds before Biden quoted McCain, where he would have said something like "McCain says...."

They do this because it works. Not on us, but on the FAUX News faithful who go there to hear what they want to hear, facts be damned. And a quick 20 second apology a day later does not even register with them, if they even catch it.

If they say Obama was the 'most liberal senator' then he is, even though his voting record would show otherwise.
If they say Obama is a socialist/communist, then he is, without having to bother with looking up the definition.
If they say, as Cheney just did, that Obama is weak on terrorism, then he is no matter that he winds down the ill conceived Iraq invasion, which generated more terrorists according to the NIE, and concentrates on Pakistan and Afghanistan where Osama Bin Laden and al Qaeda have their stronghold.

It is sad that there is no network equivalent of DU. I go here every day to get the real news. But truth has, as they say, such a liberal bias and we wouldn't want THAT kind of TV news. :eyes:

19. ?
I think you misinterpreted my grammatical intent. Maybe I was not as clear as I could have been.

Referring to the FAUX Newscasters and their faithful that I introduced in the previous paragraph I said:

"If they say Obama was the 'most liberal senator' then he is, even though his voting record would show otherwise."

or the verbose interpretation:

If those on the rightwing News shows declare that Obama was the 'most liberal senator' THEN the FAUX faithful believe he must be the most liberal senator, even though Obama's voting record would show otherwise.

BTW
"Nit pick: Than not them."

It's not a complete sentence. And the word "than" should not be capitalized.

sorry I just had to ;)

22. You could prevent the other reader's confusion by adding the
comma after an introductory adverbial clause (preferred usage about 95% of the time, especially where confusion is likely):
"If they say Obama was the 'most liberal senator,' then he is, even though his voting record would show otherwise."

I can see that you deliberately omitted that comma (which wasn't 100% necessary, after all) because of the necessary comma after "is," which is uncomfortably close and makes the idea of piling up commas unappealing. I probably would have left it out, too, for that reason, but now I can see how the reader misread the sentence--probably by reading it too quickly. (But of course people do tend to read these messages pretty fast.)

14. It probably makes a difference
Now that their FCC license renewal is scrutinized by Obama's FCC commissioner instead of
Bush's rubber-stamp Michael Powell, a word from the White House about lying and distorting
stuff from Obama and Biden probably carries a little more weight than it did when it came
from a presidential campaign cell phone.

18. Lies and rumors work, even after they've been corrected
I can't find the website now but they talk about how if you say something negative and untrue, even if you come back and correct it the damage is done. Not only that but people can use that initial lie as a way to justify further lies.

Basically fox knows what they are doing, preying on the ignorance of the public knowing the lies will sink in even if corrected. Its also why they sometimes put a D next to republican criminals.
