2. May have had a tad to do with anti-globalization in the wake of the global recession

caused by unfettered capitalism. The Anti-globalization movement started in South America. Chavez, Lula, Evo et al ascribe to the resentment of US hegemony. Chavez had a good quote in the documentary "The revolution will not be televised", to paraphrase:

I am not against globalization, but why does American get to tell the world what is or isn't globalization? Venezuela can and will reach out to other countries to work together towards the common good, but why must we adhere to what the United States will demand of us?
