5. Decriminalize drugs in the U.S.
The "War on Drugs" is a total failure.

FOX News is the only gig Gonzales can get these days. What a pathetic little man.

11. Allow people to grow their own. That will take the money out of pot, and
restrict the markets for the drug cartels. Those cartels would then go to war over what remaining products are profitable. That war will weaken the drug gangs, and possibly cut the number of organizations we have to find and destroy. Pot wasn't controlled by the gangs until Nixon did his operation intercept. That doubled the price of pot and made it profitable enough for the mob to get involved.

I remember soon after Nixon's Operation Intercept, small private dealers were being assassinated, or beaten horribly by the mob in my town.

14. Prohibition didn't work in the twenties
It only created criminals and home breweries. Why did people think pot would be any different? Meanwhile, our prisons are overcrowded with nonviolent inmates and law enforcement is diverted from real crimes.

Thank you Mr. Nixon. Your legacy lives on.

Gives me the willies...(shiver)...and Geraldo kept calling him *General* like he is a military hero. Way to assign false credibility. The man should be on trial for war crimes. Jumpin' Sweet Jesus.

10. The guns
from the U.S. across the border are a major contributing factor to the violence in Mexico.

The November 10, 2008 issue of The New Yorker entitled "Letter from Mexico: Days of the Dead" by Alma Guillermoprieto was utterly chilling in tracing the growth of the new narcocultura, particularly in the state of Sinaloa.

15. A few suggestions that could bring a simple solution
would be to start by arresting Gonzales and all the rest that made this economic and immigrant mess in the first place.
We can then follow up by arresting and fining the **** out of anyone caught giving a job to or housing an illegal immigrant.
If there are no jobs and no housing, the wave of illegal immigrants will stop.
You can follow up on that area by then giving the illegal a chance to become legal by returning to Mexico and applying like everyone else has to. The cost of this could be minimal because we should give the bill to Mexico for the costs of controlling and transporting, feeding, etc their citizens that have entered our country illegally.
To end any reason for drug gangs in the first place, we simply make certain drugs legal..same as countries in Europe have. We place our emphases on education and rehab instead of jails in the same ways Europe has. If Marijuana and coke are legal, there will be no drug gangs, no border wars and no incentive to come into America.
Legalizing these drugs would also open factories and create jobs as in the case of hemp and create jobs in the treatment of the problems that give rise to the use of drugs in the first place.
Jobs in turn raise revenues for the government such as taxes and create even more jobs in order to serve the needs of those that have some money and want to spend it...its all a win/win if you look at the big picture.
