Note: "Obama passing new law to..." is an inaccurate description of what this report talks about. "Obama administration negotiating treaty that may allow..." would be more accurate. But the DU rules say to use the vid title from YouTube. Quite interesting nonetheless.

1. and this is differnt than the current proposition ..........how???
negotiating a treat might be a bit better than just confiscating all the information, which is what has been happening. We've been travelling with stripped down laptops as it is.

3. This would add a new rationale
to list of reasons the Feds can access your digital space.

And it's not just about searches at borders. The point to make this authority available to the Feds inside the country.

10. Some have never see their devices again!
Get a receipt, or you have no claim, it seems.
This has been a problem for years now.

Havent we lost enough freedom as it is? National Security? Get real. Obama Admin needs to focus on the god damned economy and health care not what kids are illegally downloading.

5. If this was supposedly to go into effect at the end of last year, how
could the Obama administration be accused as being architects of this international law.

I believe that this will not be passed because of the business laws which would obstruct any laptops or Pc to be invaded due to the fact that it would reveal business secrets, and it would also be illegal to invade computers that contain personal medical information.

If brought squarely to the attention of the President, I think he would see it ,in many ways, as unconstitutional.

6. This video sure makes it sound as though he will be responsible for it
Even if he didn't architect, he will be held responsible and rightfully so. I sure hope he doesn't underestimate the outrage that this will cause. It will make AIG look like a lovefest.

8. While this law might have some National Security applications-
- this has corporate lobbyists' fingerprints all over it.

Ever since Napster got popular in 1999 the entertainment industry has had a bug up its ass about P2P file sharing. And this is the culmination. The entertainment and software industries probably lose a couple of billion dollars to file sharing each year (and the official estimates are probably even higher).

I would expect there to be loopholes in this legislation for any corporate types who might be carrying sensitive information on their laptops. This is aimed squarely at the little guy.

9. RULE: "You do not have to use the same title as the original YouTube..."
In fact, often brevity works better and actuality can be better presented.

11. Wow.
I don't know how I got that idea in my head. I've posted so many videos with lame titles the last few years, always wishing I could change them. Live and learn. Thanks L.
