Newt is running on fumes when it comes to new ideas.

The 'gay' thing didn't work out.
The 'abortion' thing isn't working.
The 'terrorist prez' thing didn't work.
The 'liberal-to-communism-to-fascism' thing was a bust

Hmmm, let's concentrate on a new spooky-spooky weapon that could wipe out America one button. Yeah, that will work.

Not.

1. Stuff like this DOES scare me...
...because Newt has been positioning himself to run for President.

Anyone who remotely wonders if MIHOP or LIHOP is valid---understands that
these creeps would love to be accurate about predicting a major disaster
or terrorist event.

Nothing would help them terrorize the American people into electing them
to higher office.

These types are desperate. Their ideas are dead. All they have left
is schemes and fear.

I think they're capable of just about anything.

2. Newt is nuts........
but the fact that a few well placed EMP weapons could turn us back to the stone age is very real.

4. Newt knows it
That's why he brings it up. He's lying about the outcome of course.

20. conceding half a point is twice too much
A nuclear device, as inefficient as it could be, is the most practical method to produce an EMP with any degree of range. All other methods do not have the energy output to create an EMP that could affect a significant area.

A missile would almost be the worst and least effective possible delivery system for such a weapon as the only way it would be really effective if it was parked next to a power plant. The size of such a device is currently prohibitive for ideal weaponization and nearly impossible for it to be smuggled easily as a terrorist weapon to a useful location.

6. I have read
That an invisible beam weapon exists that can take out an entire city from 50 miles away and it was developed by the Russians in 1958, I wonder if the Newtster knows about this and when he is going to pull that card out.

7. I would be more concerned with the Russian Dragon as far EMP goes.
Edited on Sun Apr-05-09 12:30 PM by Wizard777
What I call the Dragon is an interesting piece of Russian technology we came into possession of at the fall of the USSR. This machine fires an electro magnetic pulse through a blast furnace into the Ground. It has an effect that kinda like punching the earth. What the Russians found out was that if you punch the earth. It will punch back. It's more commonly called the Russian earthquake machine. But I call it the Dragon because the blast furnace portion of the machine resembles the jowls of a dragon and it spits a 50' flame out the front.

10. Newt would shoot the missile out of the sky
Edited on Sun Apr-05-09 01:42 PM by Tutankhamun
with his SDI anti-missile defense. He would just tell the N. Koreans to outfit their missile with the necessary homing beacon, then get the flight path coordinates from them as well as exact time of launch so his defense missile could be synchronized. Then newt would tell N. Korea that they aren't allowed to launch any of the highly effective anti-SDI defenses that have already been developed to counter our phony anti-missile weapons.

That'll show those N. Koreans.

Seriously, how much of an international embarrassment would it be if we tried to shoot the missile down and Failed? What message would that send?

12. Wallace asks Sanford the question in a way that kind of shows
that Newt's a moron. "Do you really want to get into a shooting war with the North Koreans when they have a million member army just across the DMZ..."

See, an EMP wouldn't stop their feet or jam their guns. It would not go well.

So what? The reasons for the next disaster is the direct results of the beat of a butterfly's wing in the middle of Africa. Get over it.
