If your arguments are weak, you put a child on the train tracks and yell 'TRAIN'. That is what this ad does - and one like it were run in California which, in fact, turned the tide towards Prop 8's devastating outcome. This is only the first sign of a cornered dog going after their opposition in a fit of anger and fear. The demonization is only just beginning.

1. That is despicable. The Watchtower-types do the same when they come to your door.
They have a child with them so you won't slam the door in their face. I simply don't open it.

They are good at using children for their own gain, as well as soliciting the elderly on SS payment day. I saw it happen in my neighborhood, called the family and got it stopped...thousands of dollars after the fact.

I hate people who use children. That ad is the worst I've seen in a long time.

4. Slightly off topic post but
yesterday driving home from the metro station the radio station I listen to (WTOP in Washington DC) had a story on about how the University of Maryland student senate had voted to exclude prayers at graduation this spring. The radio station had solicited opinions from its listeners. One woman called in, identified herself as an elementary school teacher in a southern Maryland county, and began to lament that because of all the court decisions she could no longer talk to her students about God and that now she had to talk to them about 'godless things like same-sex marriage'. She ended with the old chestnut "we need to think about what all of these godless things are doing to our children'. Watching this abomination of an ad made me think of her opinion.

FAKE! Real elementary school teachers don't have time to talk about their religion OR gay marriage.

5. "You've got to be taught to hate and fear, it's got to be drummed in
your dear little ear..."

Actually, I think what those kids were saying was beautiful, and 'grandma' or whoever was the other side of any of those pretend conversations would have a chance to see the simple truth.

It isn't about what 'sex' a parent is, it is all about loving and nurturing children. Teaching kids that anything less than the 'pa and ma wilder' family means THEY are less than anyone else is abuse.

I don't object to the fact that the commercial is done with kids- I object to it's message. I've seen kids from gay families demonstrate the joy and beauty of having their parents marry.

The commercial against smoking that shows a little boy crying for his parents isn't done because there isn't a strong argument to be made, it's just another perspective.

Adam and Eve have nothing to do with same sex marriage, and that blip in the commercial is showing a sick prejudice.

Those who oppose equal rights are going to fail. They won't do it quietly, but they WILL fail. I'm sure of that.

:hi:

And they ARE old fashion thinking...like from the Late Stone Age!

Were they married? I don't remember the ceremony.

7. Oh my god, here come "the gays"!
In condoning this "gay marriage" thing we're running the risk of having children raised by two loving adults who have consciously made a decision to have a family. As opposed to the "mistake" kids who can be mistreated or neglected by their parents, which is OK, so long as they aren't gay.

I personally know a gay couple, raising two wonderful young boys in foster care because their idiot birth parents are completely irresponsible. I wonder if those two boys are going to look back and be angry over the "two dads" who are loving and nurturing?

11. He is worried about the wrong things.
He should worry about being molested by his mom's new live in boy friend after her third divorce.

He should be worried that his father will abandon the family like John McCain did if his mother falls ill.

He should be really worried about that slimy Republican do gooder Boy Scout leader.

He should be worried that going to a Christian school will leave him brain washed and believing in some Creation nonsense.

He should be worried that some gun nut who owns ten assault weapons, 20 handguns and loves to make bombs will attack the local school.

He should be really worried if his mom works at some government office that could be blown up by some right wing copycat McVeigh.

15. To hell with the kids!
Edited on Wed Apr-08-09 06:24 PM by AlbertCat
I hate children. Little pesky know nothings. They'll do anything you ask for a reward. Recite any words you help them memorize. They don't mean it and don't care. Who the hell falls for the trotting out of the doe-eyed kids?

Besides, kids don't care if anyone is gay....unless they are told to.

We should do this same ad...only with talking puppies and kittens. "If my owners are gay, will I be molested?"
