2. This is where someone jumps in and takes it too literally.
It was hyperbole, and he was referring to actors in the commercial. Just giving that disclaimer to avoid having to figuratively roll my eyes later.

But yes, I'm disgusted by them. And I wonder, how many of them are in the commercial just to make some money? I'm not sure what's worse.

14. C'mon!
If they're professional actors, they're not villains for doing this ad even if they don't agree with it. They have to eat, and acting is not an easy job. This is no different from doing an ad extolling the virtues of a product you don't own or use.

Also, half of them went out for a drink after shooting and:

"Oh man, this commercial against gay marriage I did today. You wouldn't believe it! Boy was it lame and stupid! No one will ever see the damn thing."

A friend and I once almost got a job at Jim Baker's studio building and dressing sets for his "International" ministry. We were to do a France set, Germany set, one for some African country, and one somewhere in Asia....all in Charlotte, NC. The money was good and I would have done it (and then told everybody so the word might get around how fake it all was)but they hired more sympathetic artists (fundies) instead. So these "actors" may also be members of this dumb organization.

15. Really?
Promoting a cereal you don't eat is the same as a fear mongering commercial that's about denying equal rights?

"C'mon!" is right!

:)

5. Someday people are going to look back, if they're even around,
and scratch their heads at just how stupid we were in this time period. Resources we have pissed away for thousands of years fighting each other over lines on paper, the color of our skin, different gods, different hats, whatever, will be sorely missed by the coming generations. Hell, we are feeling it already.

What could have been...

7. Now I get it! Many paranoid heterosexuals secretly think their spouses are gay!
And their spouses might divorce them if gay folks are allowed to marry! Otherwise, why would they care? How else would it directly affect them?

13. Otherwise, why would they care?
Edited on Thu Apr-09-09 08:23 PM by AlbertCat
Because THEY'RE gay (or bi)....and can't stand to see other gays happy while they live a miserable closeted lie of a straight life?

I'm guessing....

8. I thought he was going to say that
in five to twenty years the actors in the ad were going to admit that they were gay. This is a silly ad for a silly organization. This is going happen folks. Just a matter of time before so many states ratify this that it becomes a national referendum and passes at the federal level.

Yay Iowa! You did it again!

9. " The clouds are dark"

" My freedoms are being taken away"

What friggin "freedoms?"- To hate?
To destroy other peoples lives?
To impose ignorance and fear on others?
Good- that should be taken away.

And We Are Being Attacked, Attacked I tell you,
by Teh Gays!!!

If it wasn't such a disgusting pisser of an ad,
it would be comical.

Cenk nailed it, again.

:kick: and R.
