I noticed something about Pat - he can't think while talking and listening at the same time - he melts down. It's quite fun to watch.

and lost the argument when he said that everyone executed was guilty. Just recently, if memory serves, they found evidence that a person executed in Texas was innocent. O'Donnell is correct on the Church's stand on the DP and on the Iraq War--Buchanan basically had to admit that his version of his faith is different than Church teachings.

We are supposed to recognize our own guilt, no matter how small, in the crime/sin and change ourselves. Killing the killer, just makes us killers too.

The original principles of Pro-Life were NOT limited to "the innocent". Buchanan is wrong about that too. The redemptive power of the life of a man known as Jesus, goes for the guilty too, so as long as they are alive they have a chance of recognizing their wrongs, making ammends, and beginning to change. To deny ANYONE that chance makes you as bad as any killer, or worse, in many cases, since killing is often a crime of passion and execution is quite purposeful. That's the way they USED to teach it.

Buchanan said several times that "every time the death penalty has been used it killed a murderer" or words to that effect. That is simply not true. The simple truth is that everywhere in this country, and ESPECIALLY in Bush's Texas, there are many innocent people incarcerated and put to death. That is one very good reason why the Catholic church opposes the death penalty.
