6. My only argument to the numpties down my way

is simple - Religion and marriage have nothing to do with each other, religions didn't invent it. As an atheist I can get married any time I like, not in certain churches (bizarrely some would happilly marry me knowing I don't and never have believed in any God but wouldn't marry anyone who agreed with their belief in God but happened to be gay) but then I wouldn't set foot in those churches if my life depended on it.

Marriage and religion are separate and always have been.

Thankfully the religious fascists (and indeed even the religious) are thin on the ground here, bigots aren't unfortunately but it at least means we can jump over the idiotic argument that because some people's interpretation of a book written by people for whom horseshoes were a mind blowing technological advance, says gay people can't marry. It's an utterly and completely insane argument.

I don't care what your religion says because I think your religion is infantile and absurd.

14. The Government should get out of the marriage business.

The legal part of marriage should be called a civil union and it should be the only thing the Government recognizes. You can then get married in any ceremony you wish if you want a supernatural blessing, but this should have nothing to do with the state of your civil union.

Marriage is more about property....from a government POV...than love or faith so separate the two.

I suppose you could get married without the legal civil union part, but then your children and spouse would not have the same legal standing. The government should be blind to the type of "marriage", ie. ceremony, that takes place...or what state it took place in.

13. What this ad fails to realize and mention

is that these fucking religions nut job ASSHOLES WANT "the" "government" to dictate and control religion - as long as it's THEIR narrow "RELIGION" and NO OTHERS!

These assholes are perfectly happy and are in fact working overtime to enshrine THEIR NARROW HATEFUL AND BIGOTED FANTASY "LAWS" INTO GOVERNMENT LAWS!

That's the whole point of their upset with EVERYONE ELSE...!
