1. Mr. Hedges...what do you believe?

Atheism is the opposite of theism. Atheism is defined by what it is not...atheism is a lack of belief in supernatural deities. It's hard to comprehend for those who fear the ultimate finality of their lives & to be able to grasp non-existence after their life has come to an end. I was dead before I was alive and I'll be dead after I am alive. Enjoy your life. Do not fear the unknown. Live your life to the fullest and treat others how you would want to be treated. It would seem to be more rational in not believing in a God, and if I'm wrong, be able to present your life as a good person to a supernatural being instead of being fearful for every action you've ever done. If God were to have created us in his image, wouldn't we all be invisible? Just a thought...

2. a phenomenological perspective

experience stripped of artifice down to its essential characteristics in which it is possible to find not only blessings that some have attributed to supernatural others, but also damnation of our own making. This is how we are "made in the image and likeness of 'God'".

Anyone who says, "Without God, it's all just chemistry" would have to be ignorant of the chemistry to which s/he refers and full of contempt for what(ever) Is.
