I don't think you'd ever even see this issue discussed on this level 2 years ago, not to mention any time prior - things are changing, slowly but surely - hopefully for the better with the forces serving this country in the military.

1. I'm retired military.
I retired a year after the bush was selected by the Supremes (But Clinton's name was on my retirement certificate, thank God.). The Department of Defense sent me a brochure on the signs of suicide and phone number to call. Very strange.....

2. This is so sad!
I will admit 20yrs ago when I was young&dumb and had just been discharged from the military I was under the delusion that Republicans cared about Vets. It did not take long to figure out I was wrong! As I tried to navigate the endless red tape of the VA I wondered why the Republicans were not even attempting to fix the VA seeing that they were in charge of Congress...The Republicans were to busy going after Bill Clinton for everything their imagination could come up with. Then when the Republicans controlled every aspect of the federal government they led us into a war we needed to win (Afghanistan) and quickly tossed it aside for a war based on lies (Iraq) that would produce profits for defense contractors and oil companies. However, they never even cared to make sure those fighting these wars would be cared for on the ground in combat or when they come home. I do not like using the word "HATE" but Republicans really anger me when it comes to almost anything these days but this issue hits hard! The Republicans use vets as political props but behind the scene that block extra funding for vets while passing every wasteful defense project under the sun...For this I "HATE" the Republicans!

I know many of you do not agree with either war we are engaged in right now. I honestly feel had Bush not dropped the ball in Afghanistan for Cheney's war for profit in Iraq then President Obama would not be in the shitty situation of having send more troops in to Afghanistan. Not only that but now President Obama is having to pour tons of money into the VA in order to play catch up in providing care for our vets. Even John McCain tried to block Sen. Webb's GI Bill for one he wrote that basically held GI's hostage forcing them to stay in even longer to get basic education funding! Sorry but to me this just shows the Republicans look at our vets as "tools" and not US heroes!

3. Thanks for your insight. I would add that the republicans use
the religious right and the NRA, selling them propaganda to instill fear and hate in order to keep control.

4. Without a doubt!
The way I see the Republican Party is there are the very wealthy within the GOP who could care less about religion but use it as a "carrot & tick" to create "VOTE-BOTS". They use issues like abortion, evolution, gay rights, and other Bronze Age ideas to stir up these Bronze Age thinkers so that they turn out in huge numbers to vote. As long as the GOP claims to support these Bronze Age ideas they now have the power to convince the same people to vote against their economic well being and support massive tax breaks for the rich. The most striking part is these weak minded VOTE-BOTS have been convinced that helping the poor, elderly, & disabled is bad; aggressive foreign policy led by military force is good, torture was right and necessary; and the rich stock piling wealth was good for them (the ole trickle dow theory)...What happen to their so-called belief in the teachings of Jesus?

These Religious Right Bronze Age Thinking Republicans have had their malleable minds shaped into standing firmly against anyone who supports: Peace(turn the other cheek); Diplomacy first; Helping the poor, disabled and elderly; and not hate for others; etc., Everything Jesus stood for is now a LIBERAL SOCIALIST IDEA!

This why FOX TABLOID News is so funny, odd, SCARY and very SAD...These VOTE-BOTS will praise Jesus one minute and then reject stimulus money meant to help people in economic trouble!

Not only is this brain washed group a threat to our secular nation but it is also a very sad result of how a mind trained on myths can be molded into almost anything without any proof...SAD!
