So...

The torturing was outsourced to mercenaries (Blackwater)?!

3. when she said that she 'did not know about the waterboarding' she sounded convincing & clear

the implications that Democrats knew all about it and bought off on the practices may not include Feinstein - Is it true then that Democrats, if any, 'bought off on it' as was suggested. Maybe now we see why Cheney is panicking publicly about this, fighting for airtime - he my very well be at the center of a storm so big, it will retroactively take down his former administration one way or another.

4. She said she didn't know because she chose to remain
"unvarnished". Feinstein is in this at least up to her elbows and only that far because she chose to disregard her duty to find the truth in some sick attempt to absolve herself of it. Most here on DU were not fooled. I know, I never was.

5. so you think they have meetings where they can prove she was there and knew/bought off?
Edited on Wed Apr-22-09 05:45 AM by tomm2thumbs

or just that she knew 'behind the scenes' without any way of actually proving she knew. Curious - it can make a difference if someone can pinpoint a date certain when Democrats were told and 'bought off' whereas she indicated it didn't happen.

9. Hell, I knew
You'd have to be a total idiot to be in her position and not have surmised as much. Whether she is a total idiot by choice or by genetics, makes no difference, I don't want her representing me.

I wrote Feinstein off long ago because I knew she was complicit and being my representative, I actually wrote to her and let her know I knew and to expect no further contributions or votes. (And in the extremely slim to none, chance that she had no inkling, I attempted to inform her.) I have and will hold to my word.

As far as I am concerned, she just confirmed what I already knew to be true. She is guilty either by actual knowledge or by willful ignorance (one in the same in my book).

11. We'll see how it unfolds - but guess what Ari noted in earlier video, that if

that if any Republicans are called on the carpet for giving a tacit nod to methods involved, that Democrats are going to be dragged to the bath as well. He phrased it as 'those who were briefed on it and didn't object to it' - so sounds like he knows where he wants to point.

12. She knew

She voted to give Bush whatever he wanted every friggen step of the way and personally profited from the decisions.

(and by the way, she didn't sound the lest bit credible to me).

6. and that makes a difference because?
I don't really see that it makes a difference at all. Sub-contracting torture is still torture.

7. Wouldn't it be more difficult to try an active CIA operative than a private citizen (mercenary)?
Not to mention the political expediency involved...

That's a genuine question, btw. I'm only learning now about the inner machinations of all this.

8. CIA folks would go along with it, throwing the contractors to the lions - just as long as
just as long as actual CIA employees are kept sacrosanct, they'll probably see it as the perfect cover from responsibility.

10. Now you know why Republicans like to "privatize" everything...
So they can violate the Constitution with impunity...

Remember, they hate regulation and laws.
